Anyone have DayZ Standalone.. please can you test if you are using Afrihost uncapped.
Game is unplayable with Afrihost account.

Switch to FNB or Afrihost 1Gb acccount = 100% working.

I got your PM on this last night. Haven't checked if you were able to send the traces I requested, but will go through my PM's ASAP for this :(

What is up with all the shaping? I think I've only been unshaped for a few hours since Friday?

@Afriman
When can I expect an answer on my PM regarding GT6 disconnections please?

Yo

I think I messed up a bit here. I had planned to take this up with MTN yesterday, but when I read through your PM, I realised I don't really have much info to go on here.

Please see my reply :(

:sick:Hi RoMark, have we jumped from the frying pan into the fire? I am only averaging about 5 GB downloads from 12:00 to 06:00. The only saving grace is our roads around here aren't as bad as yours.

Shaping is pretty severe and it doesn't look like it's relaxing until between 23:00 for the lightest users and in some cases until about 2am for the much heavier users :(

I see that shaping only kicked in at about 8:30am this morning, so it's still a good 6-8 hours of unshaped time for most users. Not entirely ideal, but we can still use that potential to a greater benefit :(

The reason I'm seriously considering a capped offering...

:mad:What's the reason?

+1, and I have already taken the plunge. Cancelled AH yesterday afternoon. Will be getting the WA 40+40 later this week.

I also mentioned the appeal of the X + X offer to Afrihost. Sadly it seems they will not consider similar offerings. I'll await their promised new pricing before making the call... Sadly 40GB+40GB at R149 is far more appealing than 30GB at R129, even if AH promises totally unshaped vs certain protocols shaped by WA. I already implement my own "shaping" by only running downloads at night.

The fact you can add WA "download plus" data at R2 per GB is also very appealing.

As I mentioned in that PM - we've never been keen on restricted or time based data. We prefer to go with anytime data and you decide how you want to use it. Not that we'd never go that way, but for the moment we try to offer the most simple, bare bones products so that they're easy to understand and it's an easy decision based on straight value for money :)

Let me state upfront that I love Afrihost. I use your mobile offering, have used you as my main ISP before, am considering using your APN on my MTN SIM, got my uncle to move to you many years back, and have just advised my mother to switch from Nashua (with their ridiculous R70/GB top ups) to yourselves. The problem is that it boils down to exactly what you said for me, value for money.

I see sense in ISPs offering "after hours" data. As far as I can tell this is when there is "spare bandwidth" to go around so if I can benefit from this then I am happy. I already schedule my downloads to not interfere with my work.

As you tell by my involvement here, I am dying to be able to everything with Afrihost but value for money talks :) Bring on those new prices and whip WAs offering :P

I think there is a benefit to specific group to have those kind of bolt-on products or after hours packages, but the flipside is that many people would see this as buying 120GB packages, except during the day it's only a 60GB package (to use that example, not to knock what our competitors are offering). We find that for many people this is very complication.

When we've done our double data on capped DSL, we always make the additional data anytime data as well, so you always get what you pay for when you want it. Our new pricing will most likely be based on the same concept.

Would you mind explaining the Turbo charge function please?
I was under the impression that it is free as part of an uncapped package and when finished you could buy additional minutes?
I have received nothing though, so I must assume you have to buy the turbocharge minutes?

I hope not, but my experience have been pretty good.
It is only since Friday that the shaping has been so severe.

My downloads are scheduled for the ghost hours and have been productive.
I had some downloads yesterday during the day as a friend requested some help.

It is just the first time that I saw shaping being so severe since I jumped ship and most of the time it is at about 18%. I'm referring to Http downloads. There were a few hours where it was not implemented and I'm not referring to hour morning hours. I'm talking about day time hours where I'm actually awake and trying to do something.

I will say it again...
Stop wining about shaping, if you don't want to be shaped, move to a Business Uncapped account....
:D

A turbocharge unshapes your connection for the next hour, once pushed - there are free minutes included for our Uncapped accounts :)

Personally I don't want a price reduction. Rather up the capacity and keep shaping to a minimum.

Shaping Policy: 12.5% Download/ 6.25% P2P

I agree fully.
I have a 10MB Uncapped and have been shaped at that level for the last 2 weeks. For me, shaping started at 17:00 every night till 08:30 every morning. I have done 260GB, and as of this past Sunday at 15:00, the line has been shaped ALL THE TIME. Now there is a serious authentication problem at the exchange, and the line has no throughput at all. I left MWEB for Afrihost because of extra speed and cheaper price, but so far, this deal is terrible. I used to average 400GB on a 4MB MWEB Uncapped without a hint of aggressive shaping... speeds would sometimes dip for an hour in the day, but then go back to full speed. Currently, even my 10MB Business ADSL is getting zero throughput on torrents at any time of the day, whereas before this weekend I could download from anywhere I liked at full speed ALL the time.

There definitely seems to be something fishy going on on the Telkom side (as well as Afrihost) :(

EDIT: Turbocharge doesn't work for longer than 10 minutes on my standard 10MB Uncapped account... and I have tried it a few times over this 2 week period, and at different times of the day/night :(
