Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt3)

Afrihost shapes like a whore. Youtube works great but using twitch is a complete waste of time. You can't download anything until late at night. I have the 4mbps uncapped and I have 12-14kbps download rate. Afrihost really screws you big time. Has any got any info if their 'business' packages are completely unshaped? I would have to downgrade to 2mbps but if it is a full speed 100% of the time, I might do it.

Business is guaranteed unshaped 24/7 :)

Other ISP's "home accounts" are also unshaped at this moment in time and are providing full line speed.

Sorry man, was just answering your question :/ Anyway, if you are not happy - make a plan to move to one of those ISP's - but remember, the grass isnt always greener on the other side.

I don't know whats up but today business seems to suck.
I'm on 10 meg uncapped and cant even stream properly. (cape Town Parow) usually have great speeds always.
Will say its been great till now, could just be a once off. will see.
done 200Gig this month so far.

Hey Man,

Don't take my reply as from Afrihost. :( I was just saying that there's no point in complaining that something else that is better, cause there are always pros and cons of a service.

Might be a line issue, could you run my/Afrihost's support tool so we can check it out :)
 
What would the possible reason be, that any device connecting to the internet through my router/afrihost settings woulc no longer be able to access an https:...webcalendar website, or https://.....owa outlook webpage or even bidorbuy.co.za?

I did not change anything on the router settings, this is universal on cellphones, laptops and PC's. none can access these sites, so its not a local PC virus, or hosts file setting or router firewall setting either?

I haven't changed ANYTHING on ANY DEVICE, nor did I add firewall blocks or hosts file settings, nada. Even mobile apps cant reach e.g. bidorbuy via wifi. Factory reset router and setting everything up again up from scratch solved nothing.

Connecting through a dongle or MiFi device gets me on the page no problems

Hmm? How does the capped account look?
 
Mmm. Mixed bag, capped I can now access bidorbuy but not mybroadband and our office webcalendar and Outlook still won't connect

Edit:
mybroadband works, but the outlook owa and our cms site wont load either

Sounds like a DNS issue. Which DNS servers are you using?
 
i had afrihost DNS settings on the router and an hour ago changed to google dns 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 to see if that made a difference.
The only difference I had so far was your suggestion to change from uncapped to capped account

PS. after changing back to the uncapped settings just now, BoB is inaccessible again

Could you possibly reset your router and reconfigure the settings? What antivirus are you using on your devices?
 
I have already factory reset my router and my Android Cell and tablet and an iPhone and Ubuntu pc's don't have antivirus on them. No hardware firewall and no rules or blocks or anything defined on the router
 
Kay... At this point I'm lost. It sounds like a router issue to me or other people would also be experiencing it :/
 
Thats what I thought at first, barring any other explanation.

But, why would I be able to access bidorbuy the moment I switched my username and password from the uncapped to the capped account. I didn't change anything else.

Also, yesterday I had two pages open side by side BoB and eBay, without BoB returning "Oops, chrome could not blah blah" and Yesterday morning I could still access my outlook account and the webcalendar without any issues.

Like I said, I didn't change anything in my router settings between then and now or setup any blocks, and the router is hunky dory, as it can access just about any other bookmark I have
