Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt3)

Streaming is definitely ignored by shaping, as is browsing and other realtime services.
Could you run a few diagnostics for me this weekend so we can get it escalated and looked into?

When you say "streaming", what do are you actually referring too?

Is this the average for everyone else on home uncapped? Or should I say.. is anybody else on average 5 out of 7 days between ~5pm and 1am getting 12.5% / 6.25% (also my preferred online time), or is it just Chris83?

Depends on region IPC AFAIK.

You're in PMB so you should be seeing unshapedness from early evenings according to Wall's updates, as E IPC is the least "loaded" IPC compared to the others.

8 AM on a Saturday and I'm still shaped to 18.8% Download/ 6.25% P2P
The capacity can't possibly be that screwed up... Can it?

By your comment I can only assume that it is and is the reason why the reps are punting the "imminent" "considerable" IPC upgrade!

We're the lucky ones it seems, we're the first to reach the "happy medium" regarding supply and demand in all the regions.

yeah, Afrihost in Durban has been amazing for the last 2 weeks..

I don't NF/ Hulu. I Just stick to nttp and torrents :)

Me too! I found Hulu to be useless with hardly any content and would rather download the latest stuff, same with NF, but what I'm trying to figure out if other people experienced the same as me as in those streaming services are sub par compared to the competition, which you can't comment :(

Anyway, it's becoming clear that whether your on home or bus, these accounts are downloading/YT accounts. I'm waiting on Afriguy's answer as to what exactly he refers to when he uses the word "streaming"? I think it's just YT, which may be 80% of the client base in which case, they wouldn't give a continental whether the other forms don't perform as well :)

Not really, their critical department contacted me and requested my tests. They gave me a critical dsl login to do the same test regarding nowvideo.sx which I must still do, if I touch the net my daughter decapitates me. :D

Afrihost is shaping torrents to 256kbps on 10 meg in Pretoria. With only ~50GB used in the last 30 days. Turbocharging ups the speed somewhat, but nowhere near that of a speed test.

Ok so Nowvideo.sx MOVES with the critical account and also my home uncapped account. Don't want to light the fireworks just yet, but seems to me they did something about this.

Sorry :( I should have been clearer!

When I said "useless", I was referring to content, although I do stand by the inferior Q compared to IS!

Yeah. Seems like us guys in Pretoria are getting the short end of the stick at the moment.

A "significant" upgrade on the northern IPC is "imminent!

Whatever that means ;)

I'm sorry if I sound a bit harsh but I just don't have any "trust" in MTN's network!

Trust is earned, but I do appreciate the effort you guys are putting in, it's just that MTN are making it 10 times harder than it should be, you guys should have stayed with IS who know how to run a network!

Correct me if I'm wrong but with MTN, they can't get past 30 days without something happening like "a portion of the IPC going down leading to increased latency for at least 48 hours!", or the radius (or whatever you call it) server going down causing authentication problems, or bad planning on IPC supply causing people to suffer with high contention, and the sad thing is that these aren't just one time deals, they keep happening (at least the first 2, and even the 3rd!) over and over, and yet, none of the other ISP's IPC's suffer from this! So, there, that's my opinion! You talk about "trust", well trust is earned.

For example, my ISP (gonna just say it coz MTN don't reserve subtlety: Plugg!) gave me 18 months of error free connection, I only left because of price (first world problems ;))!

Oh, by-the-way, when I was home (after 5pm - yes, it's a time based shaping policy!), Twitch, Hulu, NF worked like a bomb!

Just wish they would be more specific about their upgrade times, and what significant means to them. Last time they did a "significant" capacity upgrade, it only lasted about 6 weeks, before we were shaped into the ground again.
