Amazing how the Afrihost of 2 years, hell, even 1 year ago was vastly superior to whatever this is now.

Afriguy/man. Remember that issue I logged with you and critical care 2 months ago. Still, nothing has been resolved. No one will even respond to me on the email critcare gave me.

Now I'm trying to play War Thunder with my free time and I'm getting 400+ ms to Europe. These accounts really turned into a s**t show.

Also, I'm loving the death-shaping at 12:20 in the morning.

Really sorry to hear you feel this way :(
We're still seeing some after affects of the increase in demand - causing some latency to increase.

What has caused this sudden crazy increase in demand? What's driving it? I'm talking over the last 3 months...

Eh next survey I have a feeling afrihost is going to be one of the worst isps... Just got kicked from an local game for high ping.

First time in my life. Well done

Checking email, browsing etc has been noticeably slower the past week.

If there is too much demand, you need to get more supply or stop signing on new customers.
You can't expect to sell a bottle of coke to someone, let that someone piss it out after he drank it and sell that piss to someone else as the same coke.

I doubt Afrihost will get any better.

MTN SA is reviewing the structure of the whole organisation to remove overlaps, reduce expenditure on service providers such as distributors and handset suppliers, and outsource certain functions.
http://www.bdlive.co.za/business/technology/2014/09/17/mtn-sa-boss-sees-no-way-round-cuts

MTN upper management probably won't allow afrihost to buy any more interim additional capacity and force them to keep to their budgeted figures.
"reviewing the whole organization": meaning subsidiaries included, "to removing overlaps": there are some general overlaps with MTN/Afrihost like HR, marketing and customer support so I guess we can see some "cost-reduction" there as well.

We can’t sit there and take the beating on the bottom line We need to transform the organisation to be able to produce the minutes at a cost that will bring the same margin that we used to....MTN SA aims to return to the 34%-35% operational margin range in the year to December
MTN CEO is focusing heavily on bottom line. Doesn't mention anywhere about customer service. With MTN controlling 51% of Afrihost whatever the CEO says goes.

Wow, just wow. I can't wait for the end of the month, my cancellation can't come sooner

I love how now with the shaping you have to reload every 2nd webpage and video... because of packetloss or shaping or whatever...

probably putting more load on your network... let me guess your management and ceo is not using afrihost atm or they would have BURST arteries and fired people.

I remember gain's post he was against crap like this happening on afrihost and he was vocal again telkom and other isp's where this level of horrid service was the norm.

Good job guys... banana isp

I am not happy. I can not watch a youtube clip(240p) after 8pm on a 10mb uncapped line because it buffers.

Hopefully your right, the only way that any business will provide a better service is if they loose allot of money if they provide a bad service (like Afrihost now). So its up to everybody to make sure they have lowest rating on all aspects so that they get no new business and loose existing buisness untill they start providing what their customers expect. In the long run a serious blow to Afrihost's profitability is the only hope we have for preventing this from happening again.

Morning guys

I've seen a few complaints and traces that seem to show latency spikes on Uncapped where Capped seems to be fine. I've asked the network team to look into this and we are also testing with some clients to gather evidence to chase this up and find out why this could be.

I'll give you guys more feedback on this as soon as we have some more information.

Cannot get real help from Afrihost

I have been struggling with Afrihost for a week, with no joy. All that they they do is reset the port which does not help. I am getting 0.13 Mbps on a 10Mbps line

When I test this on the Telkom Guest Adsl account I get 8.35 Mbps

You shouldn't be seeing such a big descrepency across the two accounts :(
Could you PM me any ref# or your DSL username and I'll have this followed up on for you.

Afriguy I had the same issues as the person above.

Both my Capped account and my uncapped was like this.

It only started stabilizing yesterday.

still not 100% though.
