sick of this bullcrap

Afriguy I had the same issues as the person above.

Both my Capped account and my uncapped was like this.

It only started stabilizing yesterday.

still not 100% though.

sick of this bullcrap

Do you guys have a traceroute I can have a look at?
We're checking things out with the higher latency on our network.

So yesterday I ran into someone that works for IS and he said afrihost will have higher latency for at least a couple of months as your network is beyond capacity... is this true? :D cause I find that hilarious...

Oh yeah let me just add

UPLOAD has been killed.... it is generally shaped or throttled to 0.01Mbps

So yesterday I ran into someone that works for IS and he said afrihost will have higher latency for at least a couple of months as your network is beyond capacity... is this true? :D cause I find that hilarious...

No idea where he got that info from, but it's completely incorrect.

idc... but i will keep an eye on this thread when i am on another isp to see if this is correct. I am getting so much packet loss... that ticket has taken the FAR back seat while this is going on... not like it is months old right? :)

I have been with afrihost for several months but in that time I can tally the days where the service was unusable at at least a month.

Be it authentication issues, packet loss, slow network, high latency and bad support.

It would all be fine if you provide customers with backup accounts on different backbones. To give discounts on the next months bill...

However afrihost has remained silent. Your service the last week was the worst of all the isp's as everyone else it seems have gotten their internet working fairly reliably.

The only reliability I have right now? I know I will have ping spikes and packloss the only reliable thing on this account at the moment.

SAD

EDIT: and yeah I am going to moan till the end of the month, what are you going to do? cancel my accounts? :D

You shouldn't be seeing such a big descrepency across the two accounts :(
Could you PM me any ref# or your DSL username and I'll have this followed up on for you.
I have sent you the info via email to [email protected]. I have also sent it to [email protected] in response to the logged call. I have also logged another call at the support desk. I have still had no reply from Afrihost.

Speeds and pings are acceptable for the first time since this started. Still unplayable but well in the 70's and 0% packet loss. I guess that is ok...

This does look a lot better than the past couple of days.

Saturday 7:00. 18.8% Download/ 6.25% P2P
Sunday 7:15 18.8% Download/ 6.25% P2P

Really annoying that the unshaped window is getting smaller and smaller.

AH shaping really doesn't make any sense. 06:59 No shaping applied. 07:00 18.8% Download/ 6.25% P2P.
That is a time based shaping system and not a load based shaping system.

Really ticks me off that AH can keep saying that they shape on demand if the shaping goes like above at the exact same time every day.

Ya and streaming sucks... Even on a 4mb line... :(

Need to start looking around. Sad to see that things have gotten so bad.

+1

I'm on 2mb and afrihost cost R100 more than other isp. I heard the throttling on other ISPs are bad so I stuck with afrihost, but if things are going to be like this than I rather save R100 and switch.

Morning all

We're still seeing generally better performance for the majority of clients but still seeing many complaints here and on social media regarding slow speeds, enough to know that we still have more work to do here.

As soon as I know what changes are being implemented or planned, I will report as much information as I can back to the forum.

For now, we definitely need to troubleshoot and post results that show exactly where the issues are so I can escalate to the guys who are working/planning around this.

it's quite easy actually get more capacity to handle the data better...
