Can't get more than 61kb/s for youtube vids on a 4mb line, what is this, youtube usually works fine and now?

Damn.. First time that I wanted to watch some twitch streams, but it was a terrible experience.

Constant stutter and buffering. Not cool afrihost. Thought our issues experienced the last two months would have been sorted now after the ipc upgrade in the south.

Wondering if moving back to business uncapped will be better. Not keen on dropping from 40Mbps to 10Mbps speed wise.

Ai man Afrihost, julle maak mens se ervarings onplesierig.

Oh no :(
Did you see all the streams perform poorly or only certain ones?

Everything is working great on my side and the upgrade at last reduced the shaping.

It is now the first time that the shaping was not 6.25 by default but between no shaping and 75%.

So great to see the improvement. Hope it sticks this time.

Awesome to hear it :D

Seems I have another problem with YouTube. This time we have slowdowns to 250kb/s only on Android YouTube App.

The problem affects random clips and at random times within the clip. But it's always the same, as soon as it drops to 250kb/s it will sit there for the remainder of the clip. Changing to another part of the clip does not fix it. This happens on my s4 mini (480p clip) and nexus 7 2013 (720p) but does NOT affect my PC, laptop or iPad Air (720p).

Downloading something off the Play Store runs at full speed so it's not the router's WiFi.

I've seen weird performance on Android tablets too, don't think it has anything to do with the network though.

Can anyone help? My router is not connecting to the ADSL line.. (Green but blinking) the internet light is not green or red either, just off

Sounds router related. What router model do you have?

Telkom DGN2200M

Hmm, might not be synching with your line. Only advice I can think of to give is to make sure you are still logged in your ADSL account within your router and to check if your router is synching with the line

Yeah I tried that.. I tried communicating with Afrihost as they are managing the line... I don't know if I'll get a response anytime soon tho

Unplug all the phones and then plug your router in, if it doesn't work, go to your neighbors/friends and ask if you can try theirs out.
I recently had this issue, was the port in the exchange that was damaged, ask them to change your port first to see if it will work.

Hello afrihost.

I am considering you guys as an isp just 1 thing that erks me is MTN international pings :( are far greater than IS.

But besides that - on 2mb uncapped during what times are you shaping these accounts.

I haven't really found this is the case. With pings it can vary a lot, but when our network is good, my local and international pings (especially to the EU/UK) have been pretty awesome and as good or better than our competitors. It really depends on your location and your proximity to our closest IPC etc.
