Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt3)

Hello Afriman

Started using the 25gb i won from your fb comp.

So far its SOOO much better than my current ISP.


the only problem is im getting 70ms ping to SA servers which is a deal breaker for me, is this normal maybe others can chip in

Game is dota 2

Could you paste up a traceroute here? I'd like to see where the extra bit of latency is coming in.

Down to 50 i guess thats ok, im just happy my account performs SO much better.

I think if i win again tomorrow, HOPEFULLY the 75gb package so i can test out the account abit longer.
Will be signing up with you guys - you can count on it

just one question - if i transfer my line to you, is there any slight performance increase or decrease depending on minor things

When we take over your line, it's basically a billing change between us and Telkom, so we don't actually change anything physically on the line (at least Telkom doesn't, we'll never physically have access to the line or exchange).

It's usually between the data accounts you use that you'll see the minor or major differences.
 
If I want to upgrade my line speed from next month, do I have to do it before the 25th or is that only for cancellations as I don't want to get billed this month but I would like it done for the first and I'm guessing it might take a day or two?

It depends on what product you are changing from or to. If you are choosing a higher value product, then the change will happen within 24 hours and you will be billed pro-rata immediately. If it's the other way around, it should usually be pending for the 1st of the new month.

Very strange that there's such a massive discrepancy between Axxess and our accounts.
Could you have a few more tests run and PM'ed to me please? I'd like to have the results looked into for you.
 
Does anyoone know how long an upgrade from 4 - 10mbps takes? in my clientzone it shows Im on the 10mbps package but I cant sync to 10, max I'm syncing is 4096kbps

If your line needs to be upgraded it can take up to 48 hours.
Drop me a PM with the number and I can check it out :)

Sometimes instant. normally a day but only reflects on the Clientzone after 3-4 days

No it shows already in my clientzone but the line is not syncing at that speed... The guy I spoke with via live chat said he's not getting sync with my line which is weird cos I am still connected and the speed is pretty nippy (@3.4mbps - router and CZ says Im syncing at 4096)

Can your area get 10Mbps speeds? Have they tried a port reset? Do you mind posting your router stats?

Looks like there may be stability issues on the line. I'll reply to your latest PM now :)
 
Yes, the area is 10 enabled, I called Afrihost and telkom several times to confirm this. I will post the stats as soon as I get home. I saw the changes hadnt happened while I was there during my lunch

Last I checked the line wasn't able to establish a sync :(
I've tried a few things and updated our PM.
 
Thanks AfriGuy, I have been having a good exoerience with the 4mbps uncapped and have been wanting to upgrade for a while.. Hopefully the issues csan be resolved.
