and its not only on dota Diablo 3 also struggels, and HOTS you can't even try to play, and no its not my line/router/pots fillters etc etc etc don't give me the generic ****ty answers your tier 1 support gives.

I've been complaining for a while and then it goes away and returns etc etc etc, ever since that major routing firmware issue you guys had.

We definitely still do not shape gaming at all.

Can I ask if you are running in applications in concert with the games?

Would it be possible to test your gaming with a TurboCharge session enabled?

Telkom fixed my line issue, account running smooth as silk again. Gaming's definitely not shaped here,WoW,Tera and planetside all have great pings

Awesome!

And thanks for updating me on the status of your gaming! It really helps us to figure out if there any widespread issues we need to investigate.

YouTube is down the tubes again ....... shaped to hell and back. It's taking like 10 mins to buffer a 480p video that is 4 mins in length

Shaping Policy: 18.8% Download/ 6.25% P2P @ 6 minutes after midnight is a bit :wtf: too.

That's worrisome to hear! Our Shaping should definitely not be affecting your Streaming. Did you notice any other drops in speed or increases in latency?

How is streaming in general this morning?

Had a red light (not the dsl light) and dialing up came back with a 718 error. Phoned Telkom and of course they insisted that I phone AH and reconfigure my router with them because it's a password issue. I know 100% it's not because non of my accounts are working. Anyway, to put my mind at ease, I phoned AH .......... I gave up after holding for 29 mins. That is pathetic.

Seems that Afrihost has really put some emphasis on support recently, I had an issue with my account and support fixed it same day and they followed up with my query. I'm impressed guys, keep it up!

That's very odd, shaping seems quite relaxed in the East today. Please PM me your DSL username so I can check this out.

Can anyone let me know what is the limit before you are throttled on a 2mb uncapped (R397pm)

Also, what happens once you are throttled? Videos at 480p?

Finally, once throttled how would you return back to normal?

Apparently there's no set limit. Real time protocols on afrihost are not shaped/throttled and stuff like downloads and p2p gets shaped based on network load and varies day to day. Hope that answers your question.

Morning!

The Shaping on Afrihost's Uncapped accounts differs somewhat from most other ISPs. The shaping applied to the Uncapped accounts is based on our current network utilization, this means that during peak times - usually office hours - your Uncapped account will be shaped, but this will only apply to P2P and HTTP downloads. Your real-time services will never actually be shaped, or be affected by shaping. Real-time services include gaming, streaming, browsing and emailing, as well as VPNs. Each of our Uncapped accounts comes with a Turbocharge Minutes, which will allow you to unshape your account for a hour at a time.

Thanks. I can live with that!

25% Download/ 12.5% P2P - shaped like that currently at 1:45AM - any idea how come? Things have been bad for the last two days. Average daily usage's showing as 2.27gb from the beginning of the month. :(

That doesn't sound right, from what I can see people we're being unshaped by around 22:00, but the heaviest users were unshaped around 1:30am. Depend on how much data you are using I guess.

You can drop me a PM and I'll take a look at this for you.

Streaming is never shaped as a realtime service. Some new services could use P2P aspects, and we have to test to see that they are correctly classified by our system. But all the known services like YouTube, Netflix, Hulu etc are never shaped. We also get ongoing updates from the vendors on new services and new classifications to update our systems and make them more efficient.

okay that sounds excellent, as i just intend to stream with no use for Gaming or heavy downloads.
