High latency with both SMITE and mumble. Changed to WA account and no problem.

2 days ago, while I was having high latency, I checked the throttling state and is said, "No Shaping"... Changed to WA and it was fine...

I don't know, dude...

I just sent you a PM, when you next try a gaming session, can you please try game with the test details that I sent you, we need to rule out any potential causes.

Hate to do it but I gotta chime in about gaming performance too. I get a little difference between accounts when gaming but AH is almost constantly 350+ while my Mweb and WA are 270 and 250 respectively. That's a huge difference. And time of day makes no difference ..... I can quest at 7am or raid at 2am, ping stays the same. There are days when it will hover around the 310 or 320 mark but those days are few and far between. Gaming should not be shaped :(

I would like to reiterate that gaming is definitely not shaped! It is fully classified as real-time prioritized traffic on our Uncapped accounts.

Have you been able to test your gaming with TurboCharge running? That would actually help in narrowing down potential causes.

My speedtest to London last night at about 9 o clock onwards until 12 or 11:45 when the speeds went back to normal... http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4201336320 Local speeds and latency were fine at that moment but international was as dead as a doornail as you can see.

This is becoming ridiculous because it seems to be an every night occurrence during the week then usually the weekends are alright. I am even now contemplating changing ISPs or going to a capped account because at least then I don't have to deal with this shaping nonsense. If gaming has such high priority then why are there so many gamers complaining about the poor service you guys are putting out? If I wanted to get shaped,throttled and pretty much strangled I would go back to mweb.

Logged into my usage tracker and sitting on 1 star. How does that affect my browsing?

Starting to really doubt that Afrihost was the right choice

Can you point me to a link that explains how your shaping works. On a 10mb uncapped atm.

You can find a detailed FAQ on our Uncapped products Here, this gives a detailed breakdown of exactly how our shaping works, and how it is applied to your Uncapped account.

We don't use a Star system... Our shaping will only affect your HTTP and P2P downloads, your browsing should be entirely unaffected.

The issue that some of our users appears to be with specific gaming and TeamSpeak servers, and we are in the process of investigating what is causing this.

For the most part our shaping correctly categorizes gaming traffic and makes it remains unshaped at all times, we have noticed that when gaming and P2P downloads run at the same time, this can cause a slow down.

We do also provide TurboCharge minutes specifically for this reason, that if you require a period of unshaped traffic you can enable TurboCharge and have unshaped usage for a set amount of time.

Right.

Here is more proof that something is messed up with Afrihost and gaming. And to be crystal bloody clear before other excuses are offered as reasons;

No other pc, phone or tablet connected to network other than one I am playing on.
ALL other programs exited to ensure no background process.

Ran the performance test in BF4 with both Afrihost and WebAfrica ISP accounts and here are the results. Ran the test multiple times and they stayed the same each time;

Afrihost

WebAFrica

Now please tell me again nothing is the matter? Your service, for lack of a better term, sucks for gaming right now on ANY game I try to play on PC. Locally and internationally. WA works flawlessly on all games as you'd expect.

It is now passed 12 at night and you guys are still strangling the speeds here is yet another speed test to London and Local. http://www.speedtest.net/result/4204084699.png http://www.speedtest.net/result/4204090582.png. So is this going to be a thing where only a couple hours a day people can actually game and enjoy themselves without lag or fear of letting the team down. I am not even raging anymore either it is just upsetting because I pay a lot of money for good speeds and stable internet and basically getting jack squat for it.

I am doing nothing on my PC other than gaming during these evening hours and this is my speed test result from right now to London once again: http://www.speedtest.net/result/4203352537.png. This is very frustrating and this is my local speed test: http://www.speedtest.net/result/4203360945.png. Same degree of speed and shaping. Now to see if turbocharge works...

Looks like throughput is generally poor on your connection so I don't think Turbocharge will make a difference. Remember that Speedtest would qualify as an unshaped service. Latency seems mostly normal, but definitely poor throughput there.

Does anything change if you switch accounts?

We've been testing and I can promise we are not able to replicate these results.

Perhaps the best step is going to be for one of our team to contact you directly, see exactly what conditions you are testing under so we can try to replicate your specific experience instead of generally testing gaming.

If you're keen on that, please drop me a PM, I would really appreciate that.

We're definitely not strangling speeds, remember that gaming is unshaped, but seems like you are getting poor throughput in general and that's where we need to look at. If you local speeds are poor, then there is definitely a general issue we need to look at. First would be to establish if you line performs better with any account.

I'm really sorry Afriman but end of the month I am gone.

Multiple users are complaining about the same problem - packet loss - across all the account types; business, capped and uncapped on multiple titles. LoL, HoN, CS:GO. Battlefield 4 and SMITE in addition to VoiP protocol degradation on Mumble and TeamSpeak...and no one at Afrihost can replicate this? I don't know what to make of that. Dumbfounded actually.
