AfriMan, through all the trials and tribulations I do just wanna say a hearty thanks to the time and effort you invest here. I can only imagine how draining it must be.

Thumbs up for keeping at it!

If you go look on hello peter, we can all see that no one is happy at the moment, afriman I think you will lose more clients then you then you think. This problem is very similar to webafrica where they didn't have enough bandwidth and every one on their network had a bad experience.

I am not sure about this. My line has been fine for a couple of weeks now, although I am not a torrenter (is that a word?). But for steam, gaming, browsing and email it has been pretty good. VoIP was an issue a week ago. Too scared to try it again on my AH account as there is nothing worse than telling some American in garbled english that I have to restart my router :)

I have a Plugg account I use for Voice calls - no difference between that account and AH when it comes to all the others, including the various speedtest mechanisms.

When I find one of the Linux distros you all talk about I will test download and torrents ;)

My 4mb/s uncapped account (Port Elizabeth) has gone for a ball of p00p.
Getting a standard download at a locked rate of 30Kb/s this afternoon.
Router reset does nothing.
Speedtest.net to all servers locally saying 4.5mb/s down to 4.0mb/s and I have only downloaded 44Gigs this whole month!
Capped AH test account flies - getting a dwonload rate on http Nvidia drive of close to 1000Kb/s and more!
Why me AfriMan :( why me.....
I PM'd you ..a few minutes ago

D3 latency awesome
Nntp currently flat out.

Looking good :)

On torrent - 350kB/s average (4mb uncapped) - measured after 100mb
On http - 315kB/s average

EDIT: Maybe I'm special I don't know - but not all users are affected.

BTW. I was one of the ones heavily affected by the IS IPC issue (being in PE). So now I am much happier

did a "line test" from the new clientzone (only works on my ipad for some reason), says i am connecting at 6mb but on the DSLAM results it says Maximum Sync Rate 512kbps Downstream sync 256kbps... so i do a fix line and that jumps to 640kbps and 512kbps
and this is the speedtest
Test conducted on 22 November 2012 18:24
Download Speed: 2166 kbps (270.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 410 kbps (51.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 245 ms
@Afriman - can this be explained?? and a couple of minutes later

Test conducted on 22 November 2012 18:25
Download Speed: 1524 kbps (190.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 416 kbps (52 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 276 ms

Have a fault logged with Afrihost but nothing has transpired yet on this

Now here's where clarity needs to be given imo, is Afrihost Uncapped basically JustSurf with very minimal downloading being allowed, or are the current download woes just temporary and will go away once the network gets sorted out?

Questions like these always get ignored.

speeds are even worse .... constant 16KB on a 2MB line .... and I thought 60KB was bad ... guess things can actually get worse!! :(

Test my line function in client zone Stopped working for me like a month ago. Does it work for anyone else?

getting the worst speeds as well; downloading torrents at 3kb/s - on a 1mbps line!!

in Cape Town - speedtest reports download speed of 0.98Mbps.

Why the crazy shaping of torrents??

Http download 70mb file, on a 2Mb line going at 7Kb-10Kb..

switched to FNB, 200kbps

Throttled to a deadstop
