Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback

I've only used 57.51gigs this months and i'm still not able to download anything at proper speeds besides for the past weekend.
I normally download about +-150gigs a month.
Which ever time I try to download something from a direct download (i don't use torrents) it downloads at 12.5% of my line speed and that includes email attachments. I have a 4mbps uncapped line.
Youtube is the only source of entertainment I can get on the net.
I praised afrihost when i moved over and influenced a few people to move with me, and now i feel like an idiot because of this terrible line speeds.

I had a test account from openweb and it worked brilliantly, it runs like afrihost use to run before the terrible move to MTN.

My gut was right the price is too good to be true. (you get what you pay for)
I guess the MWEB guys who sticked with MWEB is having a good laugh at everyone who moved over to AfriKAK.

I know what you're talking about, I try downloading some Software from filehippo.com where I always get my software from, the speed was always running at full, now after the MTN switch I am downloading at only 10Kbps, that is a tenth of my actual download speed I should be getting. Even my AVG updates runs at that speed.

Afrihost does not seem to bother in any way that the broke the internet for so many people!

Afrihost, I think it's time to man up and tell us what's happening on your side. This week is nothing like last week. Speeds are crawling.

That's my line today, got a 1mb account. Can't even get a XBMC skin.

We are currently experiencing increased latency and decreased throughput on our ADSL network.

The problem is being attended to with the highest priority.
Unfortunately we don’t have an ETA at this moment but we will keep our status page updated.

Please accept our sincere apologies for all inconveniences.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

LOL, I just love that last line, I think most of our patience have run out at this stage.

10Meg bundled account that syncs at 6.4Mbps

Test conducted on 27 November 2012 03:03:44 PM using the MyBroadband Speedtest

Home (JHB) to Local

Download Speed: 5201 kbps (650.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 534 kbps (66.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 31 ms

Local downloads and pings are excellent

Home (JHB) to International

Download Speed: 41 kbps (5.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 333 kbps (41.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 282 ms

These international speed tests are pathetic and make the internet almost unusable

WHEEETAAAADS!

19000 MS on World of Warcraft EU realms , Afihost OP!

wtf were they thinking going on the MTN network:mad:

Also having horrible high latency on World of Warcraft (EU server). At the moment, standing still in an unpopulated area I'm at 1500ms. Would not attempt a highly populated city right now.

This is getting really weak. Trying to download a Pinnacle price list to do a quote, but it keeps timing out. Also had to close my streaming 5FM as it keeps stuttering. Downloads refusing to go above 100kb/s on NNTP.

/wanders off looking for a proper ISP

30 minutes to download a 9MB file on a 10mb line???????????????

No sorry, it only took 1minutes. Then it just stopped after 1MB and connection just dropped.

This is rediculous.

Im guessing im going home to no internet again today. Im so over this crap. Looks like moving to another ISP would be best, just a pity I'm going to be stuck with this crappy speeds for another month :(

This is very poor by Afrihost...so much for all this redundancy and stuff...I actually only had one or two small problems in three years when they were with IS...now it is daily slow downs, erratic connections, reboot routers, curse, throw things, and and and...all my freaken clients keep phoning me, I very much regret recommending afrihost to them :-(

something is not right.... 10mbp uncapped running at a whopping 9KB/s....

Speedtest.net wouldn't even open...!

Come now people, don't the rest of you find the nostalgia of running at near 56k dial-up speeds at least a little heart-warming?

What the hell Afrihost?? 0.10 Mb/s on a 4Mb line??!?! As if that's not bad enough, the constant time-outs on email and speedtest.net means I can't even employ a bit of proper Schadenfreude at how little confidence your clients have in you nowadays.

You suck.
