International traffic is affected due to a peering issue - US sites not impacted while UK/EU traffic may be slower than usual.

Just moved over to MWEB making use of the 2 month Free Promo.

The difference is Night and DAY. Everything is 10 times faster...

Will have a look at Afrihost again in 6 months time to see if they were indeed able to sort out there network.

Just had a thought - AfriMan says they've moved more gigs than when on IS, maybe they got caught out by MTNs OOB rates and they're desperately throttling :D

What they break now again :( jeez streaming is a pain .Really having second thoughts about this crap .

TestMy Afrihost: FAIL 56K speeds

6mbs test.... couldn't complete
3mbs test.... couldn't complete
1mbs test.... couldn't complete
512k test.... couldn't complete

...256k test:

TestMy Mweb: WIN 2.2Mbps

4Mb Biz Uncapped. Cant even load speedtest.net
Browsing excruciatingly slow
Streaming even slower.

Up to the last 2 days I have been largely unaffected by all the Afrihost troubles since moving to MTN but I fear they have caught up with me now. At least Im still within the 60 money back guarantee period, no?

ADSL Speed and Increased Latency

Medium Impact
Opened: 14:30 Tue, November 27, 2012

We are currently experiencing increased latency and decreased throughput on our ADSL network.

The problem is being attended to with the highest priority.
Unfortunately we don’t have an ETA at this moment but we will keep our status page updated.

Please accept our sincere apologies for all inconveniences.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Massive fail today. More than half an hour to download 10 Mb file.

I think AFRIHOST should give us all a 50% discount on our bill for December, for all the Crap they gave us the past few months.

If they dont, they simply dont give a f**k about how we are feeling.

Is all up to you Gian Visser!

Looks like a peering point in the UK/EU went down, and this caused all traffic routed via that point to be slow or pretty much dead (due to packet loss). Would definitely have affected downloads and gaming if there servers were based anywhere in that region, US services seemed to be as normal.

Just to emphasise, the network did not crash, there was no cable break to require a failover/redundancy. No matter which cable we used the issue would have been the same.

I'm seeing better performance from UK sites, but still waiting for confirmation on the issue and whether it is resolved or not.

I know this one came from left field, and we're sorry for the inconvenience.

A massive 6Kb/s on FTP 4mb line and I did 52.19Gigs for the month. Am not impressed at all. Pure internet joy my @ss

This is extremely frustrating.

And this coming from someone who has had to use iBurst for the last 6 years... hmm where did i put that modem.

Yip. The network is unusable now.
XBMC fails trying to look for media information.
Normal browsing is also crawling.

Finally managed to do a speedtest and this is the result.
Download :: 38 Kbps 5 kB/s
Upload :: 230 Kbps 29 kB/s

@Afriman
I think its time to acknowledge that thew MTN move was an error. I'm really glad that your capped users and business users are happier and good for them. But if you are not interested in providing at least the same quality service to uncapped that we were used to on the IS network then maybe just own up and stop selling it.
