We have some scheduled maintenance happening late tonight, this is posted on our website. There shouldn't be any real effect, but just so you know

Maintenance
Opened: 22:15 Tue, January 29, 2013
To improve redundancy, MTN wil be routing Local and International bandwidth over new core links.

The maintenance is expected to start at 23h59 tonight, Tuesday 29th and is to be completed by 02h00 on Wednesday, 30th January 2013.

No downtime is expected during the maintenance but we will be monitoring closely.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED!!!

That's it AfriGHOST...I'm outta here. I'm cancelling my service tomorrow! I've taken for a ride then and taken for a ride now! SHAME ON YOU!! SHAME...ON...YOU!!! Pity you've already taken your cash for this month

I'm browsing at 10k and when i download it runs at 8k(HTTP download)! My 128k ISDN line was faster this! 47mins to download a meazly 9MB file! WOW!

I recently downgraded my Afrihost capped account and is looking for a new uncapped option. I did try the Afrihost 4Mbps uncapped account a year ago for about 2 weeks, but the speed was terrible.

I have no hatred towards Afrihost as an ISP (they do try hard to please), but their uncapped accounts seem useless. I have been spending upwards of R1000 per month on my capped account for the past year and think an uncapped account will save me quite a lot of money (hopefully).

I have tried Mweb's 4Mbps uncapped trail option for the past week and so far I am very pleased. What is your suggestion (considering Telkom's new prices). Do I go for Mweb or Telkom uncapped?. I am cautious of Telkom's dodgy ISP support though.

Do I go for Mweb or Telkom uncapped?

Defnitely Afrihost! You come to an Afrihost uncapped forum and ask that question?

Next you will ask the D.A. candidate If you should vote A.N.C or P.A.C!

Look - I have been with Afrihost for ages, and on their 4mb capped offering, I have had no issues or complaints. But I need to move to uncapped, my downloads (with game updates, PSN game purchases etc.), I need to be able to download more than will be economically feasible on a capped account.

Due to the negative feedback w.r.t. Afrihost uncapped in this forum, I decided to go with Openweb (their attractive pricing also played a part :-) ). I have been trying a 2mb uncapped trial account with Openweb for the last 2 days and I am VERY pleased. I come from a 4mb capped and I do not experience any noticible difference from 4mb to 2mb on Openweb.

I am going Openweb from 1 Feb. I was thinking Telkom, but hesitant for their lacking customer service.

Use it, don't use it.

Relax the panties dear. I was asking advice of people who have maybe tried both. Last I checked this was still forum.

Thanks for the feedback. I am also very happy with the Afrihost capped options, but it has been getting expensive lately since I had to extend my cap quite a lot.

Doesn't make sense! But anyway, Forums have titles which means that the title covers the TOPIC, therefore politcal would have been a better forum for your question.

Haha!! Yes - exactly why I am now going uncapped :)

Example - I bought a golf game on PSN for R60. Bargain. But it is 7.5GB to download. Thus I would have had to buy 4 x R30 = R120 just to download it. Above my current charges on capped. It just makes so much more sense going uncapped. Uncapped 2mb to me just as fast as 4mb (I leave downloads over night if they are large), so not an issue. But it now works out CHEAPER having uncapped. Easier to budget for and I can now finally take advantage of sales on digital stuff - woohooo!

I'm honestly not sure if you're really dumb or if you're trolling. First he asks for advice on which ISP he should go to that isn't Afrihost, then you tell him that he should go for Afrihost because this is an Afrihost forum...

I'll let that simmer for a while, and then point out that this is an ISP discussion forum, not an Afrihost forum and also point out that there's nothing wrong with asking for alternatives to Afrihost in an Afrihost thread, especially seeing as many disgruntled Afrihost clients here are likely wondering the same thing. Then, to top things off, you tell him he needs to go to a political forum?

Are you on drugs?

We are going WAAAy off topic but you need to see an optician, when you have put on your new specs look approxmately 4 lines down from the top it says AFRIHOST UNCAPPED ADSL FEEDBACK therefore askin wether ISP1 or ISP 2 is better has absolutely NOTHING to do with this forum. There is another forum labled ISP DISCUSSION oe something like that, this ain't it! That political suggestion was me being sarcastic which went above your head!
Another thing I take strong exception to "Are you on drugs" comment, that is the equavalent of swearing at me because I have been in a postion to try it but always refused even with peer pressure! Only losers and weak people use drugs...........

Well, thanks for answering my question. You're not trolling then.

I'm honestly not sure if you're really dumb [-]or if you're trolling.[/-]

Let's clear it up then. An Afrihost CAPPED customer asks for ISP advice in an Afrihost thread, stating that Afrihost Uncapped won't suit his needs. There's no problem with that.
