Is that DJ Fresh speaking on the Afrihost telephone line when you're waiting to get to a support operator?

I'm suffering a fate worse than death at the moment, downgraded my line from 4mb to 2mb and it dropped it to 384k which it's been on since this morning.. waiting to get knocked up to 2mb - i don't know how anyone can use 384k its awful

We're not at liberty to say directly who the voice is - contractual legal jargon - so you'll have to make up your own mind there :)

The line shouldn't do that, please send me a PM with your username so I can check if something has gone wrong.

Well my mind thinks it's DJ Fresh :-)

Thanks, PM sent.

Also - any ongoing developments from Afrihost to make a tool the same as WA just released?

I just saw the thread here. Don't really know what it does, so will have to check it out first :)

I have a a 4/10Mbps ADSL line with Telkom and a 4 Mbps uncapped account with Afrihost. One moment I'll get download transfers of around 500KB/sec and the next it drops to 15KB/sec. This only started happening recently. Before, the download speeds where more stable. I've downloaded about 78GB so far and to me it seems like the downloads speeds are getting worse the more I download.

Did a speed test just now at http://speedtest.mybroadband.co.za/ and it returned: Download Speed: 2669 kbps (333.6 KB/sec transfer rate), Upload Speed: 461 kbps (57.6 KB/sec transfer rate), Latency: 22 ms

Is there anyway for us to check if we are being shaped on the network? Like some sort of report saying "Listen pal you download too much". Ive got the 1mb uncapped bundle, this is my 2nd month in. The first month, i had amazing speeds was getting full line speeds, now im getting half the line speed (if im lucky). Ive been with afrihost since 2009, any assistance would be appreciate.

You can send me a PM to check. We don't currently have such a tool, but I am quietly persuading the powers that be that we should have something along those lines. Will keep trying for you guys.

But for now you are welcome to PM me anytime to check.

Quick question

Does a rolling window of 30 days means that if I exceed 450gb in a period of 30days then I will be throttled until the 30 days is over ?

Referring to the 10mbps uncapped account

Thanks All

Next day window rolls,if new tally still is above the threshold - yes,if it's below the threshold - no

Afriman, maybe it's been asked before but I can't seem to find a post about it. What are the approximate thresholds on your 2 Mbps accounts? I.e. it drops to x Mbps after y GB, then drops to a Mbps after b GB, etc.? Thanks :)

I haven't seen any shaping take place on my line whatsoever (10mb uncapped), only throttling.

Are the IPC servers still full because I'm struggling to download things for the last 2 - 3 days.

@Afriman, when will the switch from 1024 to 2048 lines take place today? I am on the 1Mb bundle, and upgraded to 2Mb, but the line speed is still running at the same speed of 1Mb?

As far as I know IPC is not a server but the ISPs connection to the Telkom ADSL network ?

I'm so chuffed I switched to uncapped, no more watching my usage! yay!

just curious as I was asked by the guy using my AH account:

why would the Uncapped 1Meg only be for HOME use?

a lot of people would still be using that for gaming and that is what it is being used for, but he says during day he has high pings but night time it is better.
