Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback

What is wrong with Afrihost? You guys keep blaming MTN or Telkom, and yet our alternative Telkom and Mweb connections have far fewer problems.

After last week's synching issues, we were forced to use a different capped connection for a few days, but now we're back on the 10mbps Afrihost Business Uncapped line and speeds are too intermittent and slow to do any work. As a community manager, 99% of my work is done online, and relies on a stable connection. When the internet is slow, my workflow is slow. When the internet is down, I can't work. If it doesn't get resolved soon, I'm going to put in a recommendation that we switch to a different ISP.

Can you show us some speedtest and also some trace routes local and international.
I was thinking to switch to business uncapped, but would like to see some results from users.

I also has some very bad performance this afternoon at around 13H15 onwards.
Got Telkom on the line, did a port reset, did not help.
Drop my line profile to 4mb from 10mb-- did not help

Finally they logged a fault for technician to come out.
Severe latency issues.
You seem to suffer the same, your 2nd hop is to your exchange/gateway and that has very high latency.
 
Can anyone make any sense of this?

5000ms latency that is what is the problem

Some strange roudtrips but overall not affecting the total trip time
Timeouts is Level3 routers not responding to ICMP PING requests ( Some providers disable responses,it's just one of those things )

Well that's in Level3's network,so if it persists L3 have to look at it

And next hop is back down so the roundtrip wasn't affected,they might want to check why that router is slow to respond to ICMP ;)

I called Telkom and they gave me a reference no hopefully Telkom Tecnicians will try to sort out my problem when they arrive , I`m so sure that the problem is at the exchange, they even reset my port but the same LATENCY is still the same with the slow speed on my 1MB line ,
