Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback

Ok so I've been on an Openweb Gold unshaped trial account last weekend for 48 hours, which was pretty good and then I've been on an MWEB uncapped trial account since then.
.
This is what I've been getting on the MWEB account. It's been consistent at all times and I haven't had a single disconnect since I entered the account details. Doesn't look like there are any actual problems on my side.

Switching back to the Afrihost account today...
So how can I figure why the Afrihost account buffers 360p youtube videos, has latency jumping between 15ms - 200+ and disconnects so much?
 
I've had YouTube issues since the start of this year. Was better for five days, until yesterday. So when you find out, let me know.
 
Does Afrihost's R497pm Uncapped plan compare with MWEBs R599 "Premium" Uncapped offering, or MWEBs R449pm offering? Looking to possibly make a switch.

Guys im currently with mweb and really considering changing to afrihost.

How is it now after the MTN move, surely the issues are resolved?

Im in the durban area.

Currently on 2mb uncapped for 599pm, considering afrihost 4mb for 697pm or staying on the 2mb for 497pm.

I will be using it primarily for browsing, dota 2, call of duty and downloading.
 
I see Afrihost have given us a new setup in the client zone. We can now see if we are being shaped!

Mine says I have 100% Realtime speed and there is currently no shaping on my account - 4mbps uncapped home!

Very cool Afrihost!

Click on the connectivity button, then onto your account button. you will see it where it used to have the 1 connection circle... which was obviously useless on an uncapped account with 1 concurrent connection...

So what does
" Shaping Policy: 25% Download Speed" mean

25% of line speed, or 75%

Actually, the circle says 100% Realtime, next to the circle is where the shaping comes in
 
Is anyone else getting CONSTANT Google search error 503?


503. That’s an error.
The service you requested is not available at this time.
Service error -27. That’s all we know.

Its like a merit badge you get for searching stuff. Even my theRenamer program is konking out, as it cross references using IMDB etc, and then does a Google search... then I get the lovely !!NETWORK ERROR!! message from the program too.

Its like Google is having a day off, I haven't tried other search engines yet, and googling for the error gives me the error... Go figure.

Does this have anything to do with something I read about AH and a local Google node perhaps?

Nope see no problem. even with the EASSY cable outage still working to acceptable levels, not full speed, but fairly expectable.

Come on afrihost, it the weekend!
Clientzone says 75% download speed, I only downloaded 120gigs for the month,

Its sorted itself out now, last night I couldn't Google for half the stuff I looked up. I kept on receiving the exact same error 503 or -27 whatever, but if I used my 3G for the same search string, Google worked fine.
 
R1 Afrihost March Special

Does anyone know how the R1 special works , it says I only pay R1 for the rest of March on any uncapped account. Can I cancel before 25 March and not continue with normal price contract.
