...I see my sarcasm was a bit lost on you guys. :)

It is quite a mission to repair a cable.

I do the sarcastic bit all the time but with tongue in cheek, It normally doesn't work because people think I am serious. My mother says it is the lowest form of wit........... it didn't stop me though. :-)

BTW, The "OTHER cable" is broken off Egypt possible by a ships anchor. I follow this thread all the time but didn't see a post about a problem with Eassy until now........

This is just a visual guide to what the individual client can expect when shaping is applied, at that particular moment in time. Remember that we've had QoS in place since late last year, and we're still using the same policy, just running on a lot more capacity. Right now we're shaping more than we have in the last weeks to control international bandwidth, most of which is torrents and file sharing. From what I understand, some other ISP's hve blocked torrents completely, we're simply shaping for best experience. When capacity opens up, we'll dial down the shaping so you get as much bandwidth as possible at all times :)

Thanks for the clarity Afriman.

So this is in essence our own personal guide to where QoS is kicking in on our own accounts, so we dont feel left in the dark when downloading was flying then suddenly died.

Its a good idea i suppose, more transparency. I noticed shaping was left off over the weekend and returned with vengeance this morning. Curious to see how the % works out when eassy is running as it should again.

It's seems my apple devices are being throttled on the network. Speed test on laptop runs perfectly but on my iPhone or iPad its throttled down to 100KB/s on a 4MB line

lol can't even upload a screenshot of my clientzone. Irony I spend the weekend telling Mweb users on this forum how great Afrihost is and now this.

77,1gb data used

100% real time speed

and my absolute favourite

Shaping Policy: 5% Download Speed

WTF!

Test conducted on 25/3/2013 21:05:10

Download Speed: 440 kbps (55 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 242 kbps (30.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 625 ms

This is where Dispatch comes in handy, 8ta 10Gb and AH connection working together to get the job done...

I was about to convert to Afrihost, but the speeds are really crap - I am getting better speed from MWeb even with a broken cable. Really sad as I thought I had found a better solution than MWeb, but looks like I am wrong.

Thanks for the feedback AfriMan. I've re-actived my account using the "re-activate" button on the clientzone. All I'm going to do now is bundle it. Can I do that now for the new month?

If your line is already with us, you'll be billed the bundle rate for the 1st of April :)

It's actually very easy. Apply for a 1GB account (or whichever you choose) and include the Telkom line to be managed by AH. They do all the hard work...

Am I right AfriMan?

Yup. Just remember that lines aren't included in the R1 offer, so you'll pay pro-rata once the line moves over to us :)
