Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback

Hi Afriman,

With regards to shaping and games is there anything in particular that you manually need to do for new games? I am trying to play Neverwinter but it never seems to work or just lags to hell if you do get in. I have noticed that this mostly happens when my torrents and such are crawling and I am guessing its related.

For example its happening right now.
 
Ok I worked it out, I was on a 4meg bundle package and then downgraded to 2meg... But since my 4meg total download is a lot for a 2meg line I am getting the shaped to ****...

So stupid...

Are you gaming and torrenting at the same time? Not usually a good idea. Torrents run multiple threads/connections and have a way of finding ways to choke your connection to get max benefit. Also, torrents like to eat a lot of upload bandwidth, and with ADSL you're not getting all that much, between 512kbps and 1024kbps max. So if you're seeding something at 50kBps, you're not really getting anything else out.

Torrent running at 5kb/s, seeding is turned off. Neverwinter timing out. Jumped on to an afrihost capped account torrents are fine, games are fine. Let me know what you think.
 
Afrihost don't sleep or they automate this process but either way, this is awesome. Just sent in an I.D. to confirm my account for the 1GB Free offer and just got my details about a minute ago. Thanks guys :D.

Anyone running afrihost 1mb uncapped. Looking at getting that as 8ta sucks at present and going to cancel my contract with them next month.

I must be able to play bf3 without issue and do some web browsing and downloads.

Regrades from Uncapped to Capped take effect at month end. The Double Cap promotion runs until at least end of July (and we'll let everyone know what happens from there) so you will get 25GB + 25GB in June & July for sure :)

Mate of mine has a 1mb uncapped account with AH. Games LoL, WoW and BF no problems. He downloads +- 70gb a month without shaping.

I had that but cancelled it since it is linked to another adsl no. I will have a diff Adsl no. once the line is activated.

Gonna look at the Adsl Line and uncapped bundle.
