Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback

"We evaluate our network capacity each hour and if capacity opens up we will unthrottle uncapped users who may have been throttled until such a time that the capacity is used up again."

Not really sure if I can believe this statement made in the AUP. I tested at 5am yesterday and still no change to my throttled situation. Is Afrihost's capacity really stretched at that hour in the morning?

What is the expected speeds of a throttled 4 meg account? Is what im experiencing the norm? If so do I need to wait 30 days before I can use my internet again? Cant even connect to steam, wow lags around 12000ms from 200ms. Brings back the memories of 56k dialup.

You shouldn't drop below 1Mbps, which should allow decent speeds. You'll need to PM me your details so I can look into this.

It shouldn't drop that low. Please PM me your username so I can check the throttle settings on your account.
 
What are other people's experiences with Skype calling?

Had a conference call this morning with guys from UK / USA and Australia and it was quite bad actually. Very choppy.

I have done this every Friday with another provider and haven't experienced this.
 
Hello Afriman - Im on 4meg uncapped and I cant play on any international servers during the daytime. Just me?
 
It looks like there is a general speed problem as I've received similar feedback on capped and uncapped accounts.

We're getting our network engineers to look into this urgently, and we're hoping to get this sorted out ASAP.

Sorry about this, we're putting all our focus on this issue :(
 
Well good day all :) I got my account middle last month and all was fine (4 meg Uncapped) but today i cant even stream from Youtube or liveleak for some reason ? Pages are loading very slow local and Inter ? Is their a problem with international again ?

Been enjoying the account since i left WA but yeah my ping too JHB and such seem a bit high for some reason.

Im located in Somerset West and never had much of a problem before.

I'm on 540gb at the moment within my 30 day rolling window and I'm still getting full speed (1.1Mb/sec) on my 10mb line during the day.

Brilliant accounts, worth every cent.

There seems to be some issues with uncapped accounts in Cape Town which we're looking into. Please PM me so we can do some more tests, and we can also see if there is a workaround until this gets resolved.

Okay so throttling has kicked in pretty hard on me. Getting around 4mb speeds (350-400kb/sec).

Can you please PM with your username so I can confirm it's a throttling issue. We're experiencing some issues with our uncapped accounts, so just want to make sure and give you some more info :)
 
my speeds are wonderfull
am on the 384kbps uncapped

much better than the old uncapped. Am glad i never have to use mweb again
