Any idea when the competition winners for the iPad 3 will be announced?

dying to know if my luck is going to change :p
 
Really impressed so far. 3.2GB's done yesterday on a 1mb line.

During the day - Speeds on torrents ranged from 20 to 90kb/s.

At night - 90 to 100 kb/s.
 
Literally just switched over to AfriHost and wow it's fast!

If I wait 5 seconds for a 1080p video to buffer from the start in YouTube, I can watch it without any buffering! Impressive!

Quickly tested a news server and running at full speed there as well.

Will test Xbox Live tonight and report on that.

So far, great!

Is your line syncing at 10mbps?
 
So far it's working great for me.

Up to date I've used almost 6Gb...

Nice not to have to worry about getting capped. :)
 
Afrihost is great, managed to set up my account in under 30mins with my phone!!
Great service and great speeds :D
I moved over from WA's 4mb uncapped to afrihost 10mb uncapped, I get great latencies, dota 2, 160!!!!
I'm already on 17gig and its only the 4th
 
How much can I download a week with out getting shapped or throttled a week on 1mb line uncapped with Afrihost? Currently do around 170gb per month on my telkom account.

So it's about 170/31=5.5gb per day.

What can you do with a afrihost account?
 
10 meg account, over 450GB every 30 days without an issue.

On a 1Mb line, you will probably be lightly throttled on 170GB. If you want to move that much data, maybe consider a 4Mbps data account, so you can take advantage of more bandwidth and put some space between the throttle and your actual line speed. You can still bundle a mismatched line and data package.

Just an idea :)
 
So what will it cost me??? I don't even know if my exchange can do 4mb in my location.

thanks, unfortunately my router is pretty standard :) but ill fiddle around and see what i can do with one of my ubuntu boxes or something

A normal 4Mbps Uncapped will cost you R397 per month. You can do about 280GB+ before you get throttled, depending on network congestion and traffic. This is over a 30 day rolling period (not necessarily from month to month)
 
So what are the eu pings like for gaming? Getting over Mwebs **** eu ping. Also do they do those notices to stop downloading certain torrents?

I get 200ms - 350ms on average in Guild Wars.
220ms last time I checked on Drakensang Online.
Both EU servers. Have the 4Mbps Uncapped Bundle
 
Throttling on 4meg adsl

Hi AfriMan

Just wanted to give feedback to users who might get throttled. You practically cannot do much at all with ur line. The speeds are so bad I couldnt even reply to this thread. I had to buy a 1gig account and dialup to reply.

What is the expected speeds of a throttled 4 meg account? Is what im experiencing the norm? If so do I need to wait 30 days before I can use my internet again? Cant even connect to steam, wow lags around 12000ms from 200ms. Brings back the memories of 56k dialup.

Not supposed to drop below about 1.5mbps when throttled. This was my experience. I slowed down to 200kb/sec.
