Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback

@AfriMan - are 4MB Uncapped accounts being moved to MTN? If yes.. I will seriously consider migrating back to Afrihost from MWEB

I don't really care what you do in the background with MTN/IS or whoever/whatever but all I can say is I once was a happy customer but I'm rapidly losing that joy...

It really shouldn't be much longer and speeds should be pretty awesome on the new network. Things are bad now that we're in it, but should be a distance memory is just less than a week.
 
Also just got the email and I see on the Afrihost site: Network Status "Uncapped ADSL Network Latency" Currently on 1mbps uncapped with total bandwith usage for the month on 12GB. My feedback from the last week:

1. Dota2 received an abandonment because of disconnect and could not reconnect within 5minute. It has happened often but could always reconnect. Ingame pings not bad at 200ms with spikes sometimes going over 800ms
2. Torrents private and public trackers speeds peaking at 400kbps but average just over 200kbps. All hours of the day slight improvement after 11pm.
3. Youtube speeds peaking 300kbps average also about 200kbps
4. Websites even timeout if many opened at once
5. Steam downloads absolutely horrible with every single server tried
6. Even tried to check speeds by downloading the newest ubuntu but gave up

Overall happy with the package up until the start of this month and understand its due to upgrades so will still stick around and hold thumbs till the end of the month.

Edit: Telkom 20gig bundle no problems and max line speeds, kept as a backup but hoping to cancel.

That's all relative, my polony or yours?
I'm dead keen to see the switchover to MTN. Just a word of caution to the AH subscribers... expect SOME teething issues, it's a big move. Hope it's fast so I can be an AH client once more....

...come to think of it, with AH's client base off IS, the rest of the IS subscribers will start getting better speeds too :p

Well that's good then - don't care if it's full speed, if it's IS im not interested, would just be nice to check the traceroutes etc. using the free gig as a test before I jump the MWEB ship (of course pending the response from users on mybb wrt speeds)

I'll fire up my test MTN account and do some traceroutes tonight. Please let me know what addresses you want me to trace to.
 
@AfriMan - Is there any chance the 2mb uncapped bundle prices will be lowered any time soon?
I am currently on 1mbs uncapped but using a 2mb line so I'm I'm being restricted by my ISP...
 
My account was just plain dead for the most part of last night. It worked when I got home, and just before 7 the link went down. Later the evening just before I went to bed, it was still dead. This morning before I left home it was on again but didn't check speeds though, will check tonight. Hopefully I can use this something I'm paying R700 a month for tonight.

I had similiar problem. Account died this morning about 5-6am. Couldn't get it working (but the other backup account works fine)
