The issue has been resolved. At the moment, we aren't sure what caused the issue but all has been resolved. We apologise for the inconvenience.

No it has not. I am still getting authentication failures when trying to log onto my Afrihost account. I have to use my Plugg capped account to write this message.

Anyone else having terrible international speeds? Local speeds are fine.

Everything's fine my side, apart from really poor performance on the Google services. Post a trace route and your line stats.

Trace complete.

Local speed is 100% though.

Your second hop shows that you're congested dude. My condolences.

Yeah i know that much. What I'm worried wondering is how I get full line speed local but not international.

Also the problem with a congested exchange is Telkom will never admit its congested and they don't even know what that means. That's why i moved my line to AH so they can push it for me

If I run a local and international trace route, I see only the first 5 hops are the same. Somehow you're getting nailed where international differs. Don't ask me how. Maybe the system gives you low priority based on your poor entry.

Do you know how Telkom fix congested exchanges?

It must be a business in the area that's the problem because as 6pm hit my speeds have improved a bit. Maybe one of those dodgy internet cafe things run from home.

Let's just say Telkom aren't renowned for leaping off their seat and sorting out exchange issues, or letting anyone know what they're up to.

I doubt anything short of a university or company headquarters could single handedly cause congestion. If you live in an area with many businesses, it could simply be that they aren't operating.

I think its the High School around the corner that they must have fitted with ADSL and run to my exchange then :(

A high school shouldn't require that much bandwidth, as computers are a scarce resource. It'll just a handful of computer labs and some teachers connected, and it's likely that the kids in computer classes will be very preoccupied with offline work.

Afriman/Girl

When my line is moved to AH what can you guys do to get my exchange sorted out?
They can get telkom to phone you, thats about it (if your lucky). From my experience, Afrihost have no more pull than you or i when it comes to telkom. Apparently 'managing your line' does not mean what i thought it meant...
