This is so awesome thanks Afriman !!, did you guys add more capacity or what did you do ?

Im getting pings of 170ms to the UK from centurion and latencies of 5ms to Local game servers




6mbps afrihost business with 6mbps adsl line

Why is it that your website reports this exchange can only handle 2MB?

This is the exchange close to my home from where my line is connected and I would love to have a 4MB line.

Our line checker check both the DSLAM and the line's capability and returns the lowest value. Let me elaborate, due to various reasons, Telkom will set a maximum speed for an area which may be more, less or the same as your exchange's theoretical capability. On the Telkom portal you get both values. In some cases the exchange has a higher speed capability that your line can realistically achieve, and in other cases the exchange itself can't exceed the maximum, even though your line theoretically could.

Whether other reports are reporting the higher value is not clear, but we're confident that the checker is returning a realistical value based on the information we receive directly from Telkom.

Having said that, systems are fallible and there is no reason that we can't try, where possible, to specifically enquire whether a line can achieve the max value, but we generally find that Telkom (despite their many flaws) have these area maximum values for valid reasons.

Sorry that you are still experiencing shaping. Please also note what I posted a while back about active sessions being shaped and unshaped. If you're not moving data, the shaper will keep you on the same profile.
 
Just noticed my internet is crawling and did a local speedtest. Too lazy now to paste it in here, won't help anyway. :erm:
But 2.68MB DL on a uncapped 4MB line? You guys must be joking. Ping and UL are still normal.

PS: it's not my line since I can easily sync 5MB on our 10MB enabled exchange.

Do you get the same results on a capped account? Please drop me a PM and I'll get our experts to look into this for you :(
 
AfriMan just want to say once again, wonderful product. Luckily I haven't had any issues with my product thus far (knocks on wood).

Downloaded around 6 gigs in last 5 days. Download all of today. Still heavy shaping

Oh, wonderful quick reply ... and don't worry, my line has miraculously healed itself and is back to the usual 3.42 MB DL. I still find that a bit slow for a 4MB acc on a healthy line. But that's a white people's luxury problem so please don't bother. :D

No, they're not locked at all, I don't think ICASA allows that anymore (not sure). Anyway, you buy the router outright, so it's the straight off the shelf product, we preconfigure it as a value-add but you can change all of the settings.

Is it just me or can nobody connect to Hetzner's german datacentre?

Works fine on my 3G with Cell C but suddenly everything seemingly hosted on Hetz germany times out.
 
Yep.. just had a client of mine asking if the server is down - time to send a support ticket.

We haven't been getting any general reports like that. Drop me a PM with the site names you can't access, we'll check if there are any link or peering issues.
