mmm so its not just me then. I could do that but I have sent Afriman a ping and tracert to the server so hopefully he can sort it out for us

IE shouldn't that figure be closer to 2000 Kbps?

There are different services, using different methodologies, and it's really difficult to compare results without establishing a baseline. Some people also use TestMyWeb (I think it's that) which shows vastly different results to Ookla based tests. The reason that Speedtest is the most popular is not necessarily becuase it's the best, but becuase it's much easier to understand what we are comparing to.

I'm getting something 590kbps on the same test, with no downloads or other services running, while I know that on speedtest my line is maxxing at something like 8.45Mbps.

Issues with speedtest aside, I think it's best that we establish a baseline for these kind of comparisons, so that we're all on the same page :)
 
I must honestly say, I really have nothing to complain about so far this month. All has been good, And I had a lot of games to download via steam.

Best connection I have had on Afrihost since switching to 10mbps

56 Kbps here on 4Mbps line :(
Speedtest.net struggles to load and can't even watch a youtube video
FFS WTF

Don't know why the internet's performance is so random and all over the place. Sometimes it's absolutely amazing and other times it be great one minute and suddenly just kinda shut down... :confused:

Your speeds shouldn't be fluctuating this much :(
 
Hi, If I switch to Afrihost today, will I have to pay for the remainder of the month? I want to switch over to Afrihost at the end of the month, but the last day is a Sunday, and don't want to have no Internet on the Monday if things don't get transferred.

It's pro-rated and put on next months bill,and if you use a referral link you get the 50% discount for the remainder and next month

Thanks,. I am looking at using the Business Bundle, and these don't get a discount. I don't want to land up with no Internet for a few days.

Have you PM'ed Afriguy about this? Otherwise, please PM me directly so we can get stuck into this issue. Could be a few different issues, but we'll need some concrete tests to really know what's behind all of this.

Ah it's the bundles that don't get discounted,tbh i'd just sign up for line and acc seperate using discount link,then bundle it next month
