The way files download over HTTP and torrents are very different. Over HTTP, you're accessing a server directly, in a single "thread". Torrents use multiple threads, and whoever is seeding the file to you determines the speed you can get the file at. If they don't have the complete file, or have a slow upload on their line, it will affect your download speeds. How well seeded the file is doesn't generally affect this. Also, every time you disconnect and reconnect, you could be leeching of a different seed.
It's a http download and I've tried Torrents "healthy ones" and different http D/L's with the same result.

My connection died too about 1:48pm. And still dead. On 3G backup.

Afriman. Planetside 2 is still totally unplayable. Massive lag but the turbocharge fixes it for an hour. Whats the update on that info I sent to critical care?

Im having a problem with latency in dota 2 on the South African server.
My ping is normally around 30ms but for the past 2 nights, its been above 200ms.
I have to play off a trial webafrica which is working fine.
My friends on mweb have no issue.
Not sure what the issue is, please investigate.

Could you guys please post up some traceroutes to the game servers so we can take a look?

I sent that through to Afriman and to Kyle at critical care including port numbers and everything.
I changed to my 1gb free account and everything is fine so the game is definitely shaped. Please fix this ASAP

what IP/address do i need to ping and run a traceroute?
Yeah mines fine on mweb account and webafrica so its definately an issue with afrihost

You can see where the congestion is.
I think Afrihost seems to route the connection through to the UK and back again by the looks of it? I could be wrong though but links 8 - 12 seem to be on the UK side and then 12 onwards back in CPT?
