While scrutinizing the ISPs method of handling clientzone login, it seems that some (and AH) is accepting usernames without case sensitivity. Meaning if my user name is AaA I can log in with either AAA or aaa. However I thought this was because of using email addresses as login, however other isps don't and rely on.... erm 5 character username. Now I would have thought that it would be more secure to include username case sensitivity, but who uses an email like [email protected] ? lol.


At least I see that AH don't just stick detail into a cookie for persistent login.

Because we use email addresses, we don't make them case sensitive. But the password is.

Started a HoN game. 999 ping. Got team to pause the game, rebooted modem. Same thing.
Got team to pause game again, changed to another ISP account. Ping fine.

Please help. Anyone? To me it appears that it has something to do with my uncapped account at Afrihost.

So, played HoN last night. On the EU servers. On my Afrihost uncapped account ... aaannndd.... perfect. Latency was around 230'ish range. And I have changed nothing.
 
For a change, local peering appears to have gone down the drain. I'm getting 150-250ms pings to local sites, making connecting to servers extremely aggravating. Are there any problems?
 
Speeds are fine but my local pings are high, 200ms to MWEB CPT server... afrihost even worse

Having the same issues - also in Cape Town.

Whatever you do, don't redial - Afrihost seem to be having authentication issues here as well. Had to buy a gig from Axxess to get back online to work, Afrihost just tries to authenticate forever.

On a side note - since Afrihost now own Axxess, perhaps you could pass along to them that not allowing you to even connect to axxess.co.za to top up an account when your account has run out of gigs is pretty damn stupid.
 
Yeah my line was down for about 5 minutes because it couldnt dial too.

Fix for bandwidth issues = very high ping times.

Same thing on Axxess, so it would appear to be an IS issue.

I dont dare even try international.
I've given up contacting thier support as i have multiple engineers contact me, and each sends a new mail with no trail to follow up who worked on it.
