I'm sure MyBB support is not seen as a critical support channel by most ISPs and customers. Is it unreasonable to allow them the weekend off? Its not like you can't get in touch with them by picking up the phone or typing an email. http://www.afrihost.com/site/page/support

In short, pay the additional R100 and go with MWeb for their 24/7 My BB forum support.

I switched from Mweb to Afrihost and am ready to go back to Mweb... I might consider the 10Mbps Axxess product but can't believe it's any different to any other IS product. Mweb 4Mbps is a lot more consistent.

I must say I moved over from OpenWeb Gold about two months back (budget constraints) and I have been very impressed with the 4mbit uncapped service so far. Except for the capacity issue about 2-3 weeks ago, I haven't had any problems. For the price it is great.

From my experience. I’ll honestly say I have not been impressed.
I am on the 10Meg uncapped and have found it okay at the least, use it mostly in the evening and can say I had a better experience from OpenWebs after hours uncapped service.
I seem to get higher speeds using my Telkom account, but I suppose seeing it’s an uncapped account I can’t compare.
One thing I have notices is that torrents are a no go for me right up until 11 or 12 am. Sometime in the evening they seem to come right as the next morning they are complete otherwise I’m only seeing a couple of KB’s any other time. (looks like shaping)

I’m considering moving to Mweb to see what they are like. All I want is around 300GB and I’m willing to pay R1000 for it.
I did once upon a time admire Afrihost but lately have just felt that their service lacks something. This be it in their ADSL offerings and their Web Site Hosting.
I’ve logged so many complaints that it’s taken more than a month to resolve.

Let’s see what the future holds, and I’m not holding my breath.

Ye, heard the 10mbit is not as fast as some other providers. I also never use torrents, so that doesn't bother me.

+1, they throttle even if you're not overdoing it, and that's because they still have capacity and contention issues which seems to be during the day. Mweb have the money and the infrastructure to provide a more consistent service in my experience. Online gaming and video VOIP has been a breeze with Mweb in comparison to Afrihost. No disconnections or lag. I'd rather have the shaping (Mweb) than the throttle (Afrihost) . Guess it all depends on what you prefer, I'd rather have shaped torrents and prioritise HTTP, VOIP and gaming.

Openweb and Afrihost are both IS products so much of a muchness IMO.

Morning MyBB!!

Just a quick note to let you know that I've been away for a few days, and have seen quite a few PM's and forum posts that I haven't been able to look into. Sorry about this :(

I'll be making my way through as much of the backlog as possible, but please PM me if there is something urgent you need looking into so I can help out.

Thanks :)

@Afriman, Pm'd you.

Upgraded from 1Mb bundle to 2Mb bundle, same speeds as 1Mb...

Is this the process that can take up to 6 weeks?

Special thanks to Buyongo Felix Phiri for resolving a support ticket efficiently.

@AH Is it just me or is there no support ticket category for ADSL? I ended up posting it under "Hosting".

Yes, you'll need to make sure you're actually synching at 2Mbps. We will inform clients as we get info from Telkom.

PM me so I can see what's the best solution for you :)

You're right, there isn't one! That's embarrassing, will look into this ASAP ;)
