Openweb's issues seem to be smoothing out. Afriman are we seeing the same effect or are they on a different backbone?

Ok, this is getting worse and worse. Downloading i can live without. But i need to do research for my honours and pages are timing out half the time, cant access email etc. How can there be no information to give regarding such a huge problem? I don't understand it...

I can't comment on Openweb's infrastucture with IS, as far as I am aware we should be affected in the same way. While the feedback seems to have calmed down in terms of calls and complaints, doesn't look like the issue has been resolved.

Hi Afriman

I think the only reason the complaint calls have died down is because the call center does not have any information to provide.
I get that you are battling and waiting for feedback from IS. But its been a week now. Do you not have SLA's with them?

I'm sorry but the answer I got from the call center was also not good enough. I was told yeah there is a problem but its not our fault and we don't know when it will be fixed.

Well, I'm sitting here watching this lot and I have no clue what to do now.

I cancelled my MWeb account after running Afrihost on a trial basis for a month at negligible extra cost to myself and finding the Afrihost uncapped 4Mbps accounts performance to be just as good as the MWeb account for the entire month I tested it.

So I went and cancelled MWeb, got my line transferred back to Telkom and signed up with Afrihost full time.

And now this!

Sigh. It's always something.

The only promising thing here is that it does look like it's a genuine backbone / infrastructure problem and NOT some lame over allocation of capacity or draconian throttling, which means it SHOULD come right, eventually.

The mere thought of now cancelling the Afrihost account and switching to someone else again is far too exhausting and painful to even contemplate right now, so I'm just hoping like hell that this gets resolved before month end.

Ubuntu updates and variously web based updates have been crawling today. Shaping seems somehow different today, more erratic throughput.

Download Speed: 108 kbps (13.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 287 kbps (35.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 311 ms

This on a 4Mb line :( I'm so glad I managed to get my cancellation in before they started their billing run :D

Same here. I've decided to try and sit out the storm.

But if I had something important to do on-line at the moment I'd be pissed off.

4mb line. And so it continues. I have yet to hear any legitimate or definitive response from anyone at ARSEIHOST. For those that say to hang on, I have have been down this road before. I had given them this second chance and comments pertaining to how great it is gonna be in the future does not help us in the here and now.

Ticket lodged last Wednesday (Ticket ID: MVJ-669-28773) after giving it a week prior to this. One would hope that common courtesy & decency would at least allow a response from their Ministry of No Information. Nothing heard since email last Wednesday sending tracert etc. Wasting my time.
