It seems to have improved a bit now. I'm able to get up to 1Mbps (on a 2Mbps line) with a handful of concurrent downloads.

It's been like that for a lot of people since around Monday.
1/4 line speed during office hours. 1/2 line speed until about 19:00 - 20:00.
Around 3/4 line speed from 20:00 - 23:00. Then full speed.
I've tried with Afrihost IS, Afrihost MTN and Telkom Guest account. All 3 do exactly the same.
I suggest you log a call with telkom, cause it isn't ISP problem most likely.
My fault was logged with telkom today. I'll give feedback here as soon as they say anything.

indeed.. if CPT users are going to route via JHB then it'll be a total waste of time.
Welcome Back AfriMan!
youve been very quiet today!
Our guys are busy tinkering with the priority to give maximum blend of browsing, Voip and downloads (torrent or nntp). There may be a few hiccups while they change things around, but we need you guys to keep giving us feedback on what you're experiencing.
Please send me a PM and please also put your username in the message, that way I can forward it to our team of developers and engineers and they can check from their end.
Your help is truly appreciated![]()
Will access to IS's News Server be affected and will MTN be putting up it's own News Server?
At this stage we expect that access to IS news server will be affected, and mostly unavailable. We are exploring a news server with MTN, and we'll publish this information as soon as we have a goal in sight. We'll also explore other alternatives should we not be able to setup our own news servers in a reasonable time.
You won't believe the weird feedback to Gian's announcement (some people honestly live on another planet methinks), but also so much PR to do now that we've won the ISP of the Year thing - eish, sleep would be nice![]()
