Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback

I'm on a 1MB so it's not too bad. I'm not a gamer so latency not so much of a problem for me, still need to try Skype though...

Unless you download and are a gamer, you probably will deal with the issues we are all experiencing a little better. Skype may not work to well in the current state, Skype requires a decent connection and unfortunately we ain't got that at the moment. But would be interested to hear how Skype fairs in the current situation.

I'm on a CAPPED account and should, according to Afrihost, not be shaped or throttled in any way. I pay a premium for this prerogative, but I can't even get constant speeds! I know for a fact that the source can provide way more than 10Mbit/s (my line speed), but my download speed graph jumps up and down erratically. Granted, it does peek at my maximum (which is 1 MB/s), but it should STAY there... The MTN network is not well.

Ag nee v*k Afrihost, hierdie nuwe network is sommer k*k.

Another night same crap latency. I don't know what the hell u guys doing, but this is bullsh*t

Do a tracert to an international site and lets see. My local latency is still very low at the MOMENT.

Received a letter that everything is sorted out, and that the latency of the past few days is something of the past.

I don't think so!

Don't even try and skype, or use Youtube. The buffering is enough to drive anyone insane.

Afrihost better get their act together, or I am going to get another ISP.
At this stage of the game they are absolutely pathetic.

@AfriMan - You guys got serious issues with your "world class" network.

4Mbps Uncapped... This is actually reaching a point of where Afrihost are becoming a joke. Keep it up and i'm sure you will make history by winning ISP of the year & seeing your asses all in the same year.

The fact that this has been going on for 3 days now on and off tells us that you guys don't have a clue what is going on or what you are doing.

We seem to have borked this good and proper! For various reasons the new shaping and QoS policies were not fully implemented and what was implemented which we had hope would alleviate the issue was not sufficient to resolve the issues.

We're hat in hand here saying we messed up. Our directors are personally overseeing that all the policies are now fully implemented by end of business today with exception, and at whatever cost to Afrihost, as they will not accept a repeat of the last two days poor service.

Changes are being planned as we speak and this is definitely the one and only thing on our minds at the moment.

Truly sorry guys, we're confident we'll get this right.

Its end of business? Im sitting here waiting? Directors personally overseeing? Yea right.

There is your answer guys. We are being shaped to death...

Ofcourse the weekend is the perfect time to fiddle around with your shaping policy's when most users are active.

Well Sh*t AfriMan... if i knew I was gonna get 1Mbps on a 10Mbit uncapped product I would have paid R150 instead of R800. Thanks... time for the NCCSA....

What do you think would happen if DSTV suddenly had only 1 of every 8 channels? Do you think they could just brush it off with a forum post?
