I don't think it's fair to attack Gian's personal integrity. It was his personal vision that created the ideal against which you are measuring Afrihost's performance. I'm personally not cool with that
...
Use / Don't Use - Just my opinion![]()
Afriman, I am sure we all hear you and understand. What AF needs to understand is that your users didn't ask for this. You guys said we are moving to MTN and we all screamed, nooooooooooooo, leave everything as is because it will be a disaster. So now we have this disaster and we are just upset.
Afriman, I would expect an apology to all affected users from the figurehead or responsible management, nothing more and nothing less. If that were not the case it would indeed call into question the remaining integrity of your organization. Stop it with the spin already. It sounds like white noise political speech. You screwed up as an organization, deal with it with some measure of honour.
Tbh, even though I have seen two WISP setups in detail (both mikrotik router setups with only a couple of hundred users) and shape internet going to my internal network I shouldn't care as a consumer. The short of it is that service has been terrible again.
I am dead sure competing network teams are having a solid laugh at the expense of "SA's top rated ISP for two years running".
Do you even read what you post? Perhaps you should propose a new lorem ipsum. Should I not try to hold Afrihost to its vision, has its vision patently become defunct?
Your rhetoric is falling into line with your current level of internet service.
I did not question the man's integrity, I stated that I would expect of him and/or his team to take responsibility for yet another prolonged outage. Turning that around against me? tsk tsk tsk. Trolling on company time, comes with afrihost territory these days.

But you said ... oh nevermind, I'll just keep the "noise" to myself. Thanks for the enlightenment![]()

I want my money back for this month. You are not giving me what I'm paying for.
What use is it getting 4Mbps only 12 hours of the day?
Speedtest shoots up to 1Mbps instantly, then stays there constantly. Obvious throttling.
Maybe it is cause I cancelled. Probably throttling all accounts that have cancelled.
All I can say is, awful useless support and communication (Except for Afriman).
You'd have to pay me to keep me as a client. What an absolute waste of my hard earned money. That's all I can say.
Also, the way that AfriHost delivers support on Telkom Line issues, when you migrate your line to them, so they can give better support. Had to phone Telkom to get things done on my own. Worst support from an ISP ever. Sent emails when my line was faulty that I'm STILL waiting for a reply on. Weeks later.
Honestly, I think the ISP of the year award should be given back. You guys should be ashamed. Charging clients full price, on an untested unstable network. Basically like charging people to play a Beta game filled with 1000s of bugs and glitches.

You must run speedtests more than once ... this is why:
- 3.6Mbit / 121ms![]()
- 1.2Mbit / 20ms![]()
- 1Mbit / 18ms![]()
- 0.59Mbit / 19ms![]()
- 7.72Mbit (Hurray, it's the fastest I've been awake to see this week) / 35ms![]()
Note the times of the speedtests ...
Do you get the same with testmy.net
