Joined the fun parade today. Left a few downloads running when I left in the morning, 12 hours later and none of them finished. Getting 10KB/s max out of my 1Mbps line. Never had any problems with Afrihost before the move to MTN.

2mb uncapped line her. cant get it to go faster than when I had a 512k line. pointless paying for a 2mb line. and no. im not one of these guys trying to download the entire internet. cant game with it since it times out and disconnects every 20min. its just getting worse lately. sigh

Also 2Mb uncapped and no problems. I will say that I've only tested at night and over weekends.

We should start naming & shaming these jokers so Afrihost management can take the necessary action. If they haven't been instructed to say that...

It boggles the mind how this can continue week after week without resolution. Wonder what the MTN contract is with Afrihost? Maybe they are so deep in, one would never know the truth. If you need to cancel before the 15th then I still have two days to make up my mind. There are no e-mails from Afrihost management acknowledging the problems and explaining exactly the problems and when it is going to be fixed. Are they somewhere in north Africa, like "the-nile". Well, I suppose if you acknowledge you made a mistake the there are prob. investor problems to follow and heads to fly. So lets just keep it quite and maybe it will go away. Hmmm, the clients might go away and with it Afrihost. I am not cynical just realistic. It can't continue like this. Do Afrihost want the business to die? If so then continue with the silence and the river up in Africa.

They have acknowledged a problem though?

There's a problem with disconnects on our network. We're hunting for the reason. Sorry for the pain #Afrihost

What doesn't make sense is speedtest is reporting 90KBps download internationally, but downloading things like winamp etc from their websites hovers between 4-9KBps. I don't get it.

My torrents are going above account speed :wtf: Nntp is completely dead. Browsing is ok. Steam is not so good.

It's possible they're whitelisting Speedtest so the results show up normal, while everything else is shaped to death.

Hate to say it, but this whole fiasco seems a lot like what WebAfrica had at the start of the year. Terrible speeds and latencies, constant disconnects, etc. Back then, WA finally owned up and admitted their network didn't have enough capacity for the amount of clients they had. Wouldn't be surprised if this is the exact same thing that's happening with Afrihost.

It certainly shows a lot of signs of their network being oversubscribed.
