I had no dc's tonight during online play of BF3. It's an improvement on that side of things...
But overall speeds and throughput are still shiite...
Gonna trial the MWEB account and then mosey along....
It's been too long paying full price for quarter service...
Friday is decision time...

someone mentioned it some pages back. but it seems to me that a speedtest to an international destination is more likely to be representative of user experience.

edit - not to say that we shouldn't have the local stuff working well.

Weird, I had 3 disconnects tonight

Someone at AH must have done something right!
Speedtest local indeed goes to an MTN server in CPT, not Jo'burg anymore. Latency is still super bad but at least the connection is stable enough now to allow me staying logged on US game servers.

yay?
YAY!

No real problems with speed as of late. Only thing that bugs is me is the latency. Had a few disconnects last night on Xbox Live, and a couple of really bad ping spikes. :/

My issue has still not been resolved. Im going to give it abit longer and if still nothing then ill leave Afihost and move to OpenWeb.

It really is frustrating having semi operational laggy internet 24/7...

I have a theory. Their site says the network is fully operational, thus everybody who is experiencing crappy speeds are flagged as abusers and are shaped.

I may sound like a ****-spouting idiot, but I think we should be able to test this. Perhaps if someone creates a thread where we all post our current usage along with the speed experienced?

I would also expect that Afrihost email users when they are shaped due to usuage. This would prevent a lot of guessing. Trying to phone support to find out if I'm shaped is ridiculous especially when I have hold on for a support team member only to be cut off. My last call to support was billed by Telkom for R15 and all I got from Afrihost was a machine counting me down the queue and then disconnecting me.

I cancelled my afrihost 4meg line and signed up with openweb, couldnt take the frustration with slow speeds and yet paying full price anymore.

Speeds are absolutely crap again tonight... Sorry to say but your maintenance did absolutely nothing.

I received a call from Sidney at Afrihost 2 days ago saying he was going to give me another account to test till further notice, I'm still waiting for the login details.

Afriman doesn't answer his PM so can someone that works at Afrihost please pass the message.

Afriman is unfortunately not feeling well, we praying for his quick recovery. I just PM'd you, can you please check it :)

I got a Voxwildfire free 40GB account with Black Ops yesterday, and it is even worse than Afrihost. Going back to my Afrihost account was a pleasure :D

Speeds and latency yesterday were actually great just after 5pm when I checked.
Downloads on http were great, including some torrent tests.
Youtube was back to what it was a month ago streaming at 720p without a hitch streaming well ahead on the bar.
I was actually picked up on speedtest.net as being in Cape Town instead of Durban or Randburg!
Well done so far AfriHost!
4mb/s Uncapped - PE
:)

Network is fully operational yet I am 13th in line?

Edit : Must add that its moving fast for a change, second after 5min.

4mb account on a 10mb line
:( :'( :( :'( :( :'( :(
Sometimes the speeds are sad like now...

Is there anyone that can tell us the "abuse" download rates? Because I don't think 40gb is high on a 2mb line and I did more than double that on the old network without speed reductions. And I do not download 24/7, my pc is off 70% of the time.

I didn't even do 20gig this month and got throttled into the ground, cancelled and signed up for OpenWeb special

I would love to find out too

Even my prepaid capped account is throttled atm, just sent them a support email.
Testing with my FNB free account local and international , get full line speed.
