I would hate to live with you. I don't think I've ever seen anyone whine so much in my life.

YouTube being shaped (or throttled rather...) into the ground... It's funny, on other streaming sites I get the full 200KB/s, but on YouTube I'm sitting ~45KB/s which is around 21% throughput.

Whatever. I've cancelled. It's been like this for over a month now (including the k@k at the end of the IS month). They've processed my 2x money back guarantee. I'll be joining MWEB for their 6 month contract special.

You have possible congestion problems at your Exchange or something based on the 2nd line in the tracert

oh u are 1 of the guys that accepted the one month free adsl bribe u were offered by afriman. the fact is i i dont pay them intermittendly. why should i accept intermittend service. 17 days have passed and they still havnt done anything to fix the situation. i have no relation to you and i dont owe you anything. there is no way u can have any positive or negative influence on my life. why the f*** would i care what you think??

That is so weird, I had issues yesterday until 16H15, then my line suddenly went to full speed and has been so since, everything running at full speed, notice nothing of a throttle, shape or de-prioritizing since.

It is like 1 day it is perfect then the next its not.
I keep a close check on my exchange connection and that is always 4ms-6ms

Would love to know why the speed is playing such jojo, done 42GB for the month to date.

You obviously care enough to swear at me...

I have accepted no bribes.

Grow up. Throwing tantrums isn't going to get anyone to want to help you. If you feel strongly enough, email the CEO. Swearing at people here won't get you jack.

You just proved his point.

thank you jannie. you have been the 1st helpfull person ive encountered

You can compare my trace route against yours and look at the 2nd line.
There is not much you can do about it, Telkom needs to upgrade the capacity at your exchange as far my knowledge stretch.
But it is like a dog barking up a tree---- good luck, or you need to move house to a area with a DSLAM with less congestion, --joking--

I hate to say it, but I'm out.

I've been fighting with this ridiculous new throttling policy for a few days now and I wanted to be reasonable, I really did, but I can't operate like this.

When I first switched over to Afrihost (for the 2nd time) not so long ago, I knew I was taking a chance, but I figured what the hell, it's 200 bucks a month cheaper than MWeb, I'll give it a go.

And initially it was actually perfectly fine. Speeds were good.

Then they announced the switch to MTN and how that was going to make life even better and the network even more solid, and I thought awesome.

Then they actually did the switch to MTN and, let's be honest, it's been a disaster ... again.

Afrihost really are the kid in class who means well and is trying so hard to be cool and liked but just keeps screwing it up, sometimes not even due to his own failures, but it goes pear shaped regardless.

I really think Afrihost have used up their last good will with the ADSL community and unfortunately the service they are providing just isn't good enough and their customer support is not good at all (very bad communication to subscribers imo).

I thought I was going to be able to live with these new network issues and ride it out but the truth is I can't, I will never last until Feb next year dealing with this, and more to the point, I shouldn't have to!

MWebs new 6 month special is a good one and I'm heading back there today and putting this whole sordid affair behind me because I simply don't have time for all this drama.

To answer the "bribe" accusations, here is my situation.
In the last 30 days I have moved 263GB.
The 10mb account I am on costs R480 a month, give or take a few rand. That comes out to R1.80 per gigabyte. That's pretty flipping cheap in the context of SA internet in my opinion.
Yes, there have been issues. There have been times when I could not play Diablo 3... but you know what? It's a game. It's not the end of the world. There have been teething issues, and I think everyone expected them. If you didn't, you are either pretty naive or are totally clueless about the technology and nature of the internet. So my series downloads take a little longer - so what? They're automated. It means I get the email to say they're done at 12pm instead of 7am? So what? I'm at work, I can't watch at 7am ANYWAY. If you need 10 Mb/sec RIGHT NOW, OR ELSE, then a home uncapped account is the wrong product for you, with all due respect.

At the end of the day I still feel I am getting value for money. I haven't been "raped", "ripped off", "cheated" or anything like that. When I have logged tickets through the proper channels, I have been assisted. My feedback has been taken on board and acknowledged. I am giving constructive criticism to help improve things for everyone. Maybe that's why you perceive me to get better service than you?

You catch more flies with honey...

isadsl.co.za

He's not on an Afrihost account...

That should be mtnbusiness.co.za if he was on an Afrihost account.

Agreed, did a study a while back comparing the cost of 384k uncapped cost per gb to a 4mb connection with a 1mb uncapped account and a 30gb capped account. Makes a massive difference.

Would actually be interesting to see how a 10mb uncapped axxess account compares to the original study.
