Please explain what that entails ?

Drop the router from a 1 - 2m height, most easily accomplished by yanking on the Ethernet cable or power cord & letting it fall naturally from where it normally stands. The jolt shakes up the silicon in the circuit boards and often gives you a faster, more stable connection afterwards.

...or more likely, 'bounce' in this instance infers power cycling it, or switching it off & on again... ;)

I keep my router on the floor anyway, so the data can flow downhill to it from the telephone jack.

Your exchange looks broken.

What are your line stats on your router?

Is it at all remotely possible for afrihost to get telkom to move you to a different exchange if your line is with afrihost?

Could they at least get information about what's being done about it? Because i've tried with telkom but they have no clue.

FYI. At the moment Afrihost "linux distribution" downloading vs Plugg

All afrihost do is manage the line rental, all the technical work and provisioning is telkom.

Your line looks fine, your exchange looks to be congested.

Ask afrihost to log an issue with telkom. Then get other people in your area to do the same. If telkom get lots of complaints they might investigate.

You cannot just move a line to a different exchange; it would entail physically laying a new cable from your home to another exchange.

the local exchange would be at the post office i assume. calling de aar a area is like calling a marble a planet.
there are few ppl here using adsl but the funny thing is it used to be okay till 3 weeks ago.
i use to get 420 - 380 kb/s. now i struggle to get 30kb/s

Hu?!

I have not been in De Aar for many years, but I recall it is not very big, so you would most likely have only 1 Exchange and dslam there, and the more people that starts using adsl there the less bandwidth you going to have to share amongst yourselves until Telkom upgrades the capacity.
Just my rough guess.

I really need to do an online assessment for a job but cannot even get the international page to open. If I cannot get this completed it means I might miss out on getting a job, which sucks after 2,5years of unemployment. Have already lost one contract but not keen to lose the chance for a decent permanent expat job, just because our connections blows.

Download Speed: 18 kbps (2.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 319 kbps (39.9 KB/sec transfer rate)

that took forever to give a result for download. the window is almost gone and I need to do this. Been forced to go elsewhere for bandwith right now.
