Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback

Havent been using my 4meg uncapped for a few days as I was testing accounts with other isp's and now that my trial accounts have expired I can see the difference between the other providers and Afrihost.

Im barely getting one quarter of my line speed with afrihost right now whereas with other isp's i was getting full speed atleast 95% of the time. Other things i noticed were page load times, voip and streaming of content which were all lacking with afrihost when compared with other isp's.

I can live with a drop in speed during peak times as I understand it is a contended service but is the network really that busy at this time? My afrihost capped account is running fine as always...

Anyways, ill keep my eyes on this thread and see if things get better but for now i have to seek pure internet joy elsewhere...

Hi Guys, while I understand the need for QOS, it's seriously screwing some users at this stage. I pay for a 4Mb account but only have a 2Mb line, not a heavy user really, about 60Gb to 100Gb a month split between online gaming, youtube and downloads. My downloads have not gone any faster than 60Kb/s the whole day. So basically you instantly removed more than 66% of the value of having an uncapped account with you guys, the old policy of throttling heavily during business hours was fine.

I'll be reasonable and give it some time, but this is not the same product it was in the past, and if it does not improve I sense you guys are going to lose a lot of customers, me included although I'd hate to go.

Feel the same, have a 4MB line on speedtest very seldom go over 0.8 so not even getting 1MB from mine and all i do is browse and play online games.... with youtube inbetween...

I've been with Afrihost since Jan 2011...no serious problems with service until now.

I can't even flippin play Battlefield 3 online multiplayer on weeknights anymore!!! I come home from a long day at the office and want to unwind with some FPS and I can't!!! VERY UNHAPPY :-/

Ever since the backbone switch Afrihost's service has been [email protected] that's putting in politely.

I've been monitoring other forums and it looks like Afrihost are losing clients by the truck load, well done Afrihost...shinning example of how to lose clients quickly (I will be cancelling my account if things do not shape up very soon!)

Auf wiedersehen, Afrihost

What are normal browsing speeds like (speedtests)?

oh wait - torrents have now increased! No longer 10Kbps - they're going at almost full-line speed. Just like old times!

When torrents were slow, speedtest was still decent - giving 0.8 or 0.9 Mbps (1Mbps line)

Let's hope the speeds stay!

Hi all!

I signed up with afrihost about 2 weeks ago, and never have I experienced such bad shaping with an ISP before. I am going to sit tight for another 2 weeks before I cancel my account with afrihost, aswell as my bussiness account with afrihost.

For a company that won ISP of the year to make a conscious, bussiness decision to move to the mtn backbone, I am certain these are teething problems that afrihost are working through, but how long will these teething problems persist for?

I only heard good from afrihost before the move and now I only hear bad.

Bussiness is bussiness unfortunately and I wouldn't hire an employee that worked 10 percent of his capacity and keep him on board in the hope he comes right. I'd hire an employee who impressed me.

I really hope afrihost sorts these shaping issues out as I would hate to move ISP's. I know that afrihost has the potential to be great again! And I know you won that award for a reason!

Here's to hoping you 'come right'.

I am seeing the best speed tests I have seen inAGES.
