Hey guys, I need some advice, based on your experiences. I have been on Afrihost's 1Mbps business uncapped for about a week, with "normal" 1Mbps speeds basically all the time, night and day. I can afford a better package (or at least I'm trying to convince myself of that) and I'm thinking of the 4Mbps uncapped bundle (ADSL and line), not the business one though. Based on their performance on my 1Mbps account (which is great), I hope I will get normal 4Mbps speeds? Can anyone offer advice as to what I may expect?

Thanks

The Business Uncapped is Unshaped, where the normal 4Mbps is shaped. It depends on what your needs are, and also whether Telkom are able to provide a 4Mbps service in your area.

Best to drop me a PM so we can discuss :)

Not this **** again... I am sorry that you're ignorant about how the internet works. I've already had to school one Mybroadband user in how all of this stuff works - are you sure yo want to be the next one?

Whoa! Please respect each other here! Insulting and attacking others is not cool! If you really have something to say to each other - just PM one another. This thread is for feedback on Afrihost, and no-one should ever feel that their opinion is stupid or uninformed, or that they are not safe to post what they think or feel. :(

@AfriMan

My internet is not really doing well these last two days. Even local websites like Mybroadband gives me timeout errors every now and then. Not even to mention the 800MB file (Android Firmware Update) that took me more than 5 hours to download on http:.

It's time like these that I wish there was a "like" button for certain posts.

Sites shouldn't be timing out at all, so we'll need to look into this. Drop me a PM please, I'll make sure you get a call back :)

Mybb is having issues unrelated to afrihost though.

Trust me DO NOT go uncapped with Afrihost. Take a look at the previous posts on this forum, hello peter etc and you'll see why. Most people with any sense have cancelled their uncapped accounts long ago, look elsewhere.

Troll much? - AfriHost has definitely improved since "long ago" and improving every day :)

While the aggravation is warranted somewhat due to the new Shaping rather than the old Throttling I don't think it's all bad. After midnight downloads go full speed. Only real bother daytime is HTTP and NNTP downloads ( including sites with big images take forever to load )

To be fair, the guy was using a Business Uncapped (unshaped) package, and now wants to move to a shaped uncapped package. I think it's only fair to inform him that there's a big possibility his speeds are going to take a nosedive.
