Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback

Hey Grim, according to your profile you're located in Pretoria so the extra IPC is meaningless for you. It's meant for us western folks in die kaap, in order to finally catch up with the flawless service you guys already receive up there in Transvaal. Ain't it?

What AfriMan and Sinbad said, DBN and CPT getting their own IPC means more bandwidth for us to (ab)use and lower latency for you folks. They are going from 8Gbps total to 13Gbps (8Gbps Gauteng, 3Gbps CPT and 2Gbps DBN)

Afriman

Will the prices for 1,2,4 & 10 Mbps drop when the 20 & 40 Mbps pricing/availablility is revealed?

Well, yes and no. When traffic moves from Joburg IPC to Cape Town and Durban, that existing capacity will remain, just shared by fewer users. So there should definitely be an improved overall experience for all uncapped users i.e. How I learned to stop worrying and love the IPC ;)

It's all those western capers from the independent republic of Western Cape under leadership of supreme commander Zille using up our capacity here in the african nation of Zumaville Pretoria extension

So that means double the capacity right?:D
Then, I'll give AH one more week after 25'th and if things don't improve I'm pulling the trigger.

Hopefully then I can get my silly 2mb line working properly. and not being what it looks like permanently downgraded to 1mb as a solution.

No. Double 8 is 16, technically.
I'd give it a month. There are sure to be a couple of hiccups.

Still waiting for a confirmed ETA on that, but when Durban IPC goes live all west coast international traffic will route over EASSy, which will already make a significant impact

You mean all east coast traffic will route over EASSY?

It's about 60% more, which is still pretty massive! It puts us right up there with the biggest networks in SA :)

So I know people are having issues with their speed but this seems a bit crazy.. On a 2mb line I can hardly load facebook, haven't buffered a whole youtube video in days, and when i try download anything it goes around 15KBps..

AfriMan please ask the networking guys to add Path of Exile to real time services as currently it's being shaped to the ground together with torrents. This goes for AfriHost and Axxess.

I haven't had much problems with it. Well a little at the start, logging out and losing town portal having to go all the way back to previous point sucks.

Or after a quest completes lag makes you miss the dialogue

But recently it has been playable

It works fine till you're in the naughty corner for doing 100GB/m on a 10Mbps account, then if you have something downloading in the background at the 50KBps you are allowed the game is unplayable

Have downloads going on, just had a good run through ship graveyard and on a 4meg line done around 290Gb

No problems to report.
