Afrihost uncapped ...simply disgusting

I have a 4mb uncapped account from afrihost and let me tell you the speed is miserable, max download speed of 14 kb/s and i havent used close to the amount that gets you shaped hope they can fix this ****
 
Surely you as a consumer should have recourse to some governing body if a product that you buy does not perform like it should. Try hellopeter maybe?

Agreed but try to work things out with them first, another thing ... Have you contacted them regarding your issue?

Im wondering when last Gain said something on these forums.
 
I've got the same S&*T.
I'm seriously considering switching to MWEB at the end of the month.
I've got 4Mb uncapped through Afrihost and I'm getting around 40-50kb/s and I've only used around 12GB this month, so they musn't gimme that crap about throttling the top 50%.
I guess if you've only got 4 clients, that means that 2 of them will be permanently throttled?

Use their 384K connection, its the same speed.

Kindly note that your account is currently been managed. Your line speed has since been dropped. If you are finding it difficult to use the internet at this speed then I would recommend that you migrate your account to is.afrihost.co.za
By doing so your account will be now managed under the Internet Solutions fair use policy which will be on your client zone should you choose to migrate. There are no extra costs involved and your payment details remain the same. There policy is a bit more lenient then ours and you will definitely get better speeds. Awaiting your reply.

Managed to 1mbps after 16GB lol, they really want to stop people from using uncapped. Why don't they just cancel the service?

Afrihost should just close shop seriously lol. What a joke of a company, those staff emails are crazy

No doubt, but they should definitely rescind their uncapped offering. It pretty much destroyed their company's reputation.

Here is some comparisons between Telkom and Afrihost, my total download to date is just over 16 GB on Afrihost:

Sustained download speeds are Telkom - 3.51 mbps, Afrihost fluctuates between 250 and 320 kbps until it decides to time out.
