How about making this available to all users not only Afrihost and Axxess?
Yes, at a monthly cost to those on the "outside".

For now we are not reselling it. It's just a value-added service to Afrihost group clients which are Afrihost, Axxess, Cool Ideas and soon Home-Connect

For uncached content yes because our fill is super expensive and the server doesn't have much storage. We are looking at making some changes and increasing storage a bit.
Running between 1.5 MB/s and 2MB/s for me, at least it's working now so thank you for finding and replacing the broken cable

edit: Intermittently reaching close to full line speed now for me, but i am limiting it to 3.2MB/s as I need some bandwidth for work stuff.

Just because I'm curious; how much storage is available to the server?

Does Afrihost limit NNTP traffic, in general on its fibre soluitions?

Afternoon @AfriNatic, any issues with this lately? Today I have been getting either server address not valid, or just server closed the connection.

I am finally back on Afrihost Fibre - Missed you guys!

Now overall I am happy that we have a news.afrihost.co.za and it surely helps.

I do feel like my speeds are really lacking here.
I have 1Gbps line speed, but only getting around 350Mbps

Downloading to a RAM folder even...

Anything I can do to speed up my speeds?

This issue has come up before with our clients in CPT I think it was @Seeyou

I can't find any reason for it to be slow but certain usenet providers are downloading slow and the only;y thing I could think of is an issue with transit and tcp over high latency being the limitation. If I test these on a server I have in Teraco the speeds are fine but they slow down when you test from an FTTH line.

So I suggest torrent away, it's way faster, and don't overseed.
Necro'ing this year-old reply, quick.

Don't overseed? Is this the whole "you can torrent in ZA just as long as you don't seed" thing people keep saying here?
NGL it's the reason why I basically neuter by upload and have a ratio limit set to 0.1.

Actually in terms of traffic since the majority of our traffic is inbound have a significant outbound capacity free and that is also why we made our hosting traffic unlimited.

I meant in terms of the law and torrenting, that gov. doesn't go after people for downloading but they do if you're uploading.

But that's also good to know.
