Paid for an AH account recently with an Entropay virtual credit card - meaning no AVS is being used.

Just in case anyone was wondering whether it would work. ;)

Beware though that you'll get hit with an additional 5% or whatever the VCC provider charges.

Yip, I use VCPay and it works fine with Afrihost. Minus the 5%

Still better then using your CC directly when PayPal is not available.

They charge a transactional fee too - except the percentage is not specified. Not exactly my preferred style.

I am curious about the option to EFT though.

Yep. Esp since my CC is directly linked to my account balance & the debt facility. No transferring money to CC account - hits the account directly. If those details got lost someone could do a lot of damage...

They only charge fees if you link your credit card with them. EFT is free - good option if you don't have a credit card.

Oh I like that - so a once of EFT of a grand or so would cover quite a bit. Might consider switching...except I've exposed my CC details to entropay already so switch would not exactly reduce my risk. :/

Sounds like there are many great options for your convenience. Even if you do use your credit card directly with us, your information is completely secure and we have not had any security issues to date.

Whatever works best :)

Indeed. Allow me to point out for the benefit of all that this was not a question of me distrusting Afrihost specifically.

Rather it was a bit of an experiment to see how viable these prepaid cards are in general. Afrihost just happened to be the test subject.
