Afrihost vs. WebAfrica

I made the move from WA to Afrihost and was most happy with paying half the amount for a better service. To me it is a no brainer. Good luck on the decision

From someone who joined last month about someone who has been on the boards for more than three years. Michael has been more than helpful to many people, especially on the iburst subforum.

Afrihost has auto-topup in its client control panel ... I prefer not to have unexpected charges so I haven't enabled it. But manual topups are speedy, and you get an invoice pretty quickly.
 
thinking of joining afrihost. can anyone tell me what kind of latencies you are getting?

If it is purely about money then Afrihost is the clear winner. I have however found them much more prone to prolonged periods of slow speeds. Their other issue is their failure to reset the cap immediately on the 1st of the month. They are the only ISP I have used to date where I have had this problem.
 
i will stay with WA for the time being. their service levels are excellent and response time to the one problem i had was extremely quick.
Adding to that the WAGE service also known as freezone and it is a very good all round service.
i have Rome total war of 15 GB waiting on steam which wont cost me a sent as well as all the patches for it and every other steam game. adding that to the bandwidth equation makes it much more worth while paying the extra premium if you play games.
 
When Afrihost stop charging their ridiculous R 150 reconnection fee, i will then join them again. For now i am using Openweb and have no problems with their billing system like afrihost.
 
Stick with WA...I have uncapped solution with SAINET but I'm keeping my WA account for a backup. They may be a little more expensive than some other ISP's but atleast you know where your money is going...unlike this government.

Having never been comfortable with the WA one, I find Afrihost's client zone a breeze and much more user friendly.

True, but give it a whiz with Opera and see if it works. Maybe you can tell my how I can set the password I want on the lines or enable the equivalent of DSL Secure?

I like seeing the telephone number thats connected but want to see all of the lines accessing the account and not just the latest one. I also like to be able to kick someone off to force a relog which I can do with WA but not with Afrihost. The WA has a lot more functionality.
 
Ah, Abe you and me are at different places technically - I do not even understand some of the things you are talking about!!

Maybe that is why Afrihost works for me - I can choose my auto top up or do a manual top up and see how much bandwidth I have used. I also discovered I could do other things too, but I did not need that. So I guess that at a basic level I find Afrihost very useful whereas with WA I battled to get the info I wanted and this page did one thing and then I had to go to another place to check usage etc.

Sorry Abe, but I can not help you on that front!!
