Vumatel completed the fibre install to my home office around 09H30 today.
Plugged in the free router provided by Afrihost - no internet.

CPE power light = blue, FX = orange and LAN 1 green.

Vumatel say all active their side. Afrihost say all active their side.
Been on Afrihost live chat for like 1.5 hours and the guy cannot assist. Tells me to call Vumatel, which I do. Nothing Vumatel can do further and tell me the ISP must sort it out. ISP cannot sort it out and tells me to call Vumatel again.
Fkn really?

Is there anyway to bypass the support desk people to get real technicians to assist and get this puppy flying?

I have factory reset the router and reapplied DHCP on WAN. No go.
Plugged my laptop directly into the CPE. No go. An IP is not assigned to my laptop at all.
Rebooted everything (laptop, router and CPE) multiple times.

I am at a loss, and neither of the support desks are able to assist. Literally been left with no solution.

Vumatel also told me I am not supposed to call them directly as the ISP must deal with them. Afrihost support are intent on me calling Vumatel though.

What a mess and what a let down to finally getting fibre installed.

Hey man,

That's terrible, but what I do know is that the router has to be on the "approved" list at Vumatel. Are you using the standard router provided by your ISP?

You've plugged the router and your laptop into the CPE. That means the IP was assigned to one of those devices. Call your ISP have them release the DHCP lease....and THEN plug in your standard ISP provided router.

Hope that helps.

or.....note the MAC of your router and MAC of your laptop and ask your ISP to check which MAC the IP address is assigned to.

Thanks for the response dude.

Ye - it is the cheapy provided by Afrihost.
Vumatel did tell me that the DHCP lease must be cleared and try again, so Afrihost did as much. A few times actually. Still nada.
Vumatel also said they could see the MAC address of my router - which they should not be able to do and I must inform Afrihost of this - which I did. So maybe a config issue somewhere? Dunno...

Online finally. Turned out Vumatel were having a new VLAN issue. Just had to wait for them to sort it out.

Afrihost got my package wrong though as speed test only reporting 100/100. Will get them to correct that tomorrow. Ping of 1ms is intense though. Gaming gonna be awesome!

The first part is wrong. Im on Vumatel and use my own router. Not the ISP supplied one. Could be dependent on ISP?

Second part also happened to me. Call to ISP fixed it.
