Afrihost - what a waste so far

A Question: I'm with WA and they've got great service most of the time. I've just caught on to the afrihost frenzy, can anyone who's used both WA and afrihost give me advice. WA is way more expensive than afrihost, I use about 15 / 20 GB a month and want to know how steady/reliable Afrihost's intl traffic is compared to WA

Thanks in advance ^___^

Well I would say buy into a small package and test it for yourself in parralel with the existing, it depends on your usage spectrum, browsing, send/receive data, ect. Then if you find you are happy buy more untill you are sure then change over. Do not put all the eggs in one basket! I am happy but have not as yet gave up my Telkom ISP. Also make sure whether IS or SAIX is your current backbone and make sure the one you buy into is OK.

After some wobbly performance in the beginning, AfriHost is now running stable and kinda sorta speedy since couple of days. Not even using the WA test thingie anymore.
Me is happy bunny with AfriHost!

I will admit that I get the notification emails irregularly.

However, I just check my usage in the client zone, so no harm done.

But yeah, have had no issues with Afrihost so far.

I am still happy with the service I am getting from AfriHost.

oh my greatness someone got it !

im not complaining that i got overusage.

ill explain, i started a DL end of last month and went over by more then 2 gigs obviously, so on the first i received an e-mail saying my account was capped for this month. A little bleak but i said fair i used it didnt read the terms ill give it a try.

but today i wanted an extra gig. since i wanted some int. and so i topped up. as i topped up i got an e-mail saying you have used 100% of your top up ?

so that is what i was moaning about mainly. if i opened a new 1 gig account today would they cap that aswell ? see my point.

oh well :) im still waiting for my support ticket to be answered so who knows.

allowing you to run 2GB over your cap is a bit ridiculous if you ask me. On a 4meg line running at 420kB/s, that's about 80min running time.

Yeah, I think it is unfair to title this topic with afrihost being unfair. You are being unfair! I have similar issues where I work, and we do not charge people for their quota overusage (not my policy). Even though it is only a meg here or a meg there of overusage before they get capped, it does add up, expecially as milomak said... a fast download can take quite a bit before the cap kicks in.

Hey All

Thanks for the advocates, your beer is waiting in your email. :D

Now with regards to all the people that are upset due to the bandwidth overusage being billed. Please email me your issue and username and I will see what I can do. I don't always check my messages in here so that is why I am giving my mail address.

My email address is [email protected]

Cheers.
