Afrihost Zest T1 a massive hit

Already for sale on gumtree.

Expecting several other impulse buyers to do the same. :D

Irony is, if you tried to reason with these guys beforehand to get them to think twice before buying, they would have shut you up.

I wonder what the implications are of selling a SIM that is RICA'd to you specifically.

Any criminal activity that SIM has will likely be attributable to the seller. Unless you can get the buyer to sign docs where they acknowledge they will take the flak

Mine will only be delivered on the 24th. Sad Panda says its not fair as the 1st month's Gb seems to be allocated already, so I'll only be able to use a tiny bit before the rollover

Got mine this morning! Very impressed. Seems like a nice solid well built device!

OK first problem. I inserted a 32Gb micro sd card for storage and I changed the settings to use the SD card for default storage for new apps.

I then proceeded to install all my favourite apps. Next thing I am getting an out of space message. It has installed all the apps in the internal storage for some weird reason.
Despite choosing that setting it always defaults to "let the system decide"... and the system seems to want them all in the internal storage.

Google has disabled apps-to-SD in KitKat. You can install/move apps to "phone storage" (as opposed to "internal storage"), but not the SD card (for the moment, at least).

Ja, I have used a third party app to move some to just get some working space.
And now I see that there are actually two settings that you have to enable to get apps to install on the SD.
Going to see if that makes a difference now.

Any tips on how to transfer all my data from my Note to the Zest?

Was with MTN. Moved to pre-paid once the contract was over. Just purchased MyBackup Pro. Will see how it goes.

I wouldn't be surprised if they refuse to allow you to transfer it.
Can't you put it in as a second SIM?

Sorry :) I meant the data on my phone, not the mobile data from MTN. I'm actually using the last of it now on the Zest as the Afrihost SIM wasn't delivered with the phone.

How is the screen resolution ? Good enough ? Are you using both sim slots at moment ? General impressions ? Thanks

Screen resolution is fine, will test with some videos and photos soon.
Some slight delay on the keyboard every now and then, but hardly noticeable.
I'm only using the Afrihost SIM in slot 1 at the moment.
General impression so far is good. I will keep adding more here as I use it tonight and tomorrow.

Got mine this morning as well, feels more solid than I expected. Screen is also quite good, responsive to the touch, unlike the really cheap chinese android devices. Only using it on the AfriHost sim for now, dropped a few apps on - quite responsive. Pulled up a video of youtube, screen is good.Headphones feel a little cheap, don't sound too bad though. Probably need to switch these out if you listen to a lot of music on your device.

Will post more as I use the device.
