Afrihost Zest T1 a massive hit

Just plugged it into the PC using the supplied USB data cable. It was recognised (had to download some drivers from the Internet). Then I had to enable USB mode on the phone (there are also several other USB options). Then the inserted SD card appeared as a drive and I started copying. Copied about 12 Gb of Videos and music fairly quickly.

1080p Movies play flawlessly. No stutter at all. Onboard sound is adequate, but not amazing.

So far, nervous around battery life. Has got better after a few charges, but still not near a day with normal use...

Ja, but I have used it heavily today installing apps and copying data.
Will have to test it on a "normal" day.
 
I'm talking about my use of it over 4 days, no heavy use. Have seen slight improvement, hoping to see more, will report on my findings
 
So i've thrown both my sims into the device and it seems to be working well. Afrihost in slot 2, vodacom in slot 1. Call quality is fine, a little 'hollow' when compared to iPhone.

Battery so far seems ok, but I have only made a handful of calls and tackled a few emails today, will keep tracking the battery usage. I have the brightness turned quite far down though, i am used to this as its the only way my iPhone makes it through a work day. Looks like this might do better than my iPhone in the battery regard.

Apps wise, I haven't installed too much, just the basics. whatsapp, twitter, facebook, yahoo news digest, waze, my vodacom, Phone seems to respond fine, though there is sometimes a little lag on the keyboard when typing.

Also configured gmail and exchange mail accounts, as well as calendars. I've picked up that Calendars don't push updates, you need to go in and click refresh to pull new items through - that might be because mail has been set to pull only.

Overall pretty decent device, not sure I will stick with it beyond the week, but it is definitely an amazing entry level phone.

I've had some people tell me in the past to charge it for 12 hours.
But apparently in this day and age of modern batteries it is not necessary and a single normal charge is enough.
I just did a normal charge until it was full.

Nowadays most devices are pre-charged anyway, but you don't have to do the 100 hour charge like we did with the old Nokias back in the day

Just a regular charge is fine :)

That it is, will do well for testing our app.

A lot of people at work think this thing is a Samsung, to me it does look cheaper, but pretty cool that most people can't actually notice.

I've got some gripes with Android, which will drive me back to iOS eventually, but can't fault the device :)

I'd personally look at syncing all your contacts with Google. Sync your Gmail calendar, contacts etc between the devices :)
 
I exported all contacts for my dad and imported to a Gmail I created for him, now it all syncs to google, whether he's using his new iPhone, or when he borrowed my old s2, so much easier
