Afrihost

@Zertop I highly doubt AH will push anything.

They nevet followed up to find out if the fault was resolved, they just allowed the fault to be closed and whenever I tell them they need to resolve the issue they give me the lame excuse that they can only escalate after 96 hours although the fault has been there for two weeks with no fix.

So with all honesty I dont think afrihost cares much about their current customers nor are they willing to make an effort to get the issue resolved.

Oh yes and best of all is support sent me an email stating that they applied for more bandwith and some customers might experience SLIGHT reduction in download speeds, where is slight reduction on a 4mb line running downloads for the past two weeks at 0.04mbps?

Strange? I've had very good experiences with their support. Have you tried PMing Afriman/Afriguy, they'll help you out :)

Yes I spoke to the here on the forum to no unveil. I will give it this week and if they dont resolve the issue I will be taking it further.

I dropped Gian an email aswell so hopefully things start to get sorted out.

If not I will advise numerous family members to move away from afrihost and look at alternative isps.

Stop blaming ISP's for Telkom issues. They have no more influence over Telkom than you or I.

Well wingnut771 if you pay for a service and dont get any assistance from them then we will talk again.

Which is why I don't let an ISP manage my line, I can do a better job chasing telkom than some call centre lappie.

I was thinking of changing to afrihost because I have been having the same issues with telkoms. it seems to me like telkom screwed all the other ISPs with the upgrades and it looks like everybody is having problems and changing ISPs will not help. Worst of all telkom is denying that there is a congestion issue so nothing will be done. good luck to everybody with this issue.

If you follow recent articles here on MyBB, you'll see that many ISPs are battling under the new situation, with upgraded DSLAM circuits but no additional backhaul from the exchanges.

It's a pretty horrible situation for a lot of people. And the dreaded "best effort service" thing comes up a lot :(

@AfriMan I had an open fault with telkom and no one checked if the fault was resolved and they went and closed the fault. Now I have to wait another 96hours again. When will this be resolved as it seems afrihost does not give a *****.(pardon the language) When ever I call they keep shifting the blame to telkom but no one seems to be doing anything to try and resolve the problem. I pay my account promptly and still no service. Come on guys get this solved!

I understand that this is very frustrating. I promise you that it's just as frustrating for us to keep logging the same faults, send through test results and proof, and still see no action. Sometimes we beg and plead to get a technician out to clients becuase Telkom seem to have a policy that I don't personally understand around auto-clearing faults.

I promise you that our team does their best with the resources we have at our disposal, and we keep going as long as you'll let us. We escalate the faults as soon as we are able to, and we try every trick we have up our sleeves to get your issues sorted out.

It's definitely not a case of not caring. We have no control over Telkom closing faults. We always advise clients to reply to Telkom's SMS immediately if the fault is not resolved and we also make further notes on the fault to say it is not resolved. However, in some cases, the fault still gets closed and even Telkom management tell us we need to log another fault before they'll let us query what's happening :(

I'm sorry if we've let you down. From what I understand we've tried our best to get Telkom to attend to this :(
