Afrishost constant disconnects(not the 24 hour one)

I keep getting disconnected randomly, very annoying while playing poker for cash! My telkom saix account stays connected the whole time while this afrihost account goes like a yo yo. I notice when i get a sms from they saying 80% used etc etc I get disconnected at the same time. I've logged at ticket, but is it happening to anyone else?
 
Been having stability issues with Afrihost for the last two days. SAIX working fine, but Afrihost having issues with the same sites. I rebooted the router around an hour again and seems better now.....Could have been a DNS problem I think.
 
i had bad problems on saturday (telkom had just connected my line so dunno who's to blame there?) but i've been stable since then?
 
I have been streaming a European radio station for a few hours the last few nights, without issues.

Had problems off and on over the weekend, rebooting the router sorted things out, still frustrating though. What causes it?
 
A few times Steam has lost it's connection with me.

It actually seems to be losing the connection with Steam quite regularly.

Had regular disconnects the last couple of days while using Afrihost(PPoE), but I had the same problem with my main provider, Telkom while running local bandwidth, so I'm no sure if is Telkom and the router maybe loose connectivity for a short while or Afrihost disconnecting.
 
Also, having the same problem. The line just drops suddenly, then has to re-sync and then it's fine again.

Any updates from anyone else or news from Afrihost perhaps?
 
Our office has had the same problem but with mweb. The connection just randomly drops every few hours every now and then. Interestingly if I dial a PPPoE account with my Afrihost I can continue surfing while everyone starts asking "can you get to google?" Obviously when the router is rebooted it buggers me around as well.

So then it's not just an Afrihost problem... mmm, very curious as to what it could be.

Last night it dropped once in over 5 hours online, so ja, some days better, some days worse... :P
 
I've got the same problem, also on Afrihost. Sometimes it's proper disconnects and other times it's just apps such as XFire. I see Mweb has been mentioned as well. It sucks, I hope it gets fixed soon.
 
yes they emailed me and said its a line problem (fu telkom as usually)

Considering this has happened with Afrihost, Mweb, Openweb, Webafrica and also Cybersmart; I don't think Afrihost is to blame here.

The line losing sync is not the ISP but the Telkom line itself, maybe the exchange. Is your line actually losing sync? Or do you just mean that it has to re-establish the ISP connection? There is a difference.

I've had my Afrihost pppoe connection drop randomly for no apparent reason a few times now. I hope that Afrihost can actually comment on whether they know about any problems on their side or with their provider that is causing this. I'm going to majorly pissed if it kills downloads.

Btw when I was reffering to Steam losing connection earlier the account itself wasn't actually dropping. I also know that it is not a line issue, some of my other PCs don't lose their connections and they don't use Afrihost.
 
Arggghhh, this is starting to piss me off now. My line at my house my afrihost account still disconnects all the time, while my saix local stays 100% connected. Then i went to my dads last night and he was trying to skype my sister, once again his afrihost account was just disconnecting as it pleases, we switched to a web africa one and finished our conversation.
 
My Afrihost account does the same thing..

I haven't gotten round to logging a support ticket yet, but it sometimes stays up for hours.. other times drops every 2 minutes, and my DSL line doesn't lose sync at all.
 
i logged a ticket but the support guy keeps getting on to me to resynch and get telkom to redo my port, he doesnt that everything else works perfectly
 
Got this form Afrihost earlier this morning (4:15 AM) after I mailed them yesterday.

I believe there was a slight probe earlier but this has been resolved and all should be working again.

Still having issues, but I think they know about it. I told them it's still not resolved for me.
