AION -Please give Feedback

A little offtopic here but if you're looking for a great alternative to WoW/AION why not check out the Lord of the Rings Online?

I've played WoW, DAoC, Guild Wars, DnD online, AION, AOC etc and LOTRO is right up there. It's got amazing graphics, the best fantasy lore you'll ever find in a game (duh), a solid story driven 'main' quest line, loads and loads of content with huge landscapes that really do take your breath away when playing with dx10.

It's all there yet it gets very little notice even though it's clear that it still has a decent community in EU/America unlike other MMOs like WAR, AOC which had a population spike at launch and then just seemed to withered away....(and I will be as bold as to say that I think that this is probably going to happen with AION..)

It's the only other MMO I've ever stuck with because the community is great, the devs will actually reply to your posts, they roll out content way faster than any other MMO and it's just downright amazing to look at and it's got everything a MMO needs - endgame, pvp, storyline, lore, 65ish levels, variety of classes/races/reputations and a dedicated fanbase!

I would suggest buying it because at the moment there has been so little interest in it that I've been picking up special freaking edition copies of it (comes with 2 months free play time, map and all the fluff) for R99 at CNA! You can get Gold editions (45 day play time, free mount, comes with first 3 patches) at Look and Listen for R80. It's an amazing game if you're into MMOs and even if you don't like it, you're getting it so cheap with so much free play time anyway - it's a good time to check it out now!

Aion will be like every other ****ty Asian MMORPG. An endless grind-fest, followed by horribly unbalanced PvP and insanely difficult and involved PvE.

The only thing that will ever be better than WoW is WoW 2.

I do understand what you are saying, friendships and contacts are created with the time spent in an MMO and that greatly extends the playable life of the game purely from the enjoyment of being online with friends, but it reaches a point at one stage where logging in to chat with friends is all that is driving you and it just is not enough anymore.
What level did you get to?

Its not just about chat, you should know that if you play WoW... its about doing wacky achievements together with your friends ... are just doing something crazy like crashing someones RP event with your whole guild dressed in pink tutu`s.

If you think its just chat thats bizarre.

Is the game time in Aion a "Window" of 60 days etc, or actual time calculated?

Playing AION a bit now.. not getting alot of time but must say so far enjoying it alot, Asmodian Cleric on Perento and found a SA GUILD there.

and about latency average is 600-700ms Axxess 626

And no delays for logging in so far.

So anyone know where I can get the client and a Aion trial key to try it out?

Aion is Lineage 2.5. There's a reason why western players didn't play Lineage 2 ;-) . Aion might be huge in Asia, as was Lineage , it remains to be seen whether it will stick over here in the west .

Guild mates of mine that joined Aion are already back playing WoW, does not say much for the sustainability of the game. It is just new and like conan/warhammer will wither shortly. If your an existing wow player give it a go, but new players to mmo's consider that you will put hours into the game and then have to start over in another game ;)

It's nice when it's new and some of the graphics look really cool, but there's something about it that bothers me and I can't put my finger on it. I miss the feeling of "wow i want to play". Didn't continue after my 30 free days and will probably continue waiting for star wars.

Alright my views on this game: It is decent, very decent. However it's also VERY average. Fair visuals, tho graphics are nothing close to what people have been crying and screaming about. Combat is rather entertaining, although one has to ponder whether Ncsoft had a good look at age of conan first. People find the storyline to be really good, in my opinion it's basic- cutscenes keeping it a little interesting. All in all, Aion is your standard korean grind MMO with a budget. I won't be renewing my sub.
