http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DitchingThe FAA does not require commercial pilots to train to ditch, regulating instead the distance a plane can stray from an airfield. Nevertheless, all commercial aircraft are equipped with flotation devices in case of water landings...
I can't find a single video of the landing - surprising.
Nice thanks Kiepie, just flipped now onto Fox News. Seems there were no casualties..what caused it??

Type: Fu - Ling - yu............
Wow - absolutely amazing feat by the pilot! A true hero!!! Glad to hear all the passengers and crew are safe - and it looks like there are very few injuries, if any..
wasn't there a plane that crashed into the Hudson river years ago that killed almost everyone on board? Also in Winter?
Edit: No sorry, it was the Potomac River in 1982....
Those engines act like giant scoops in the water. I wonder how he kept it together? Amazing!
Does anybody have a link to a video of the landing of this plane? There is a lot of videos of the rescue, but I would like to see the landing.
First one from a security camera. Plane appears after a couple of minutes in the video and then the first mins of the rescue,
